Chapter 94
Lin Lei thought to himself when he saw Ye Fengyun ordering Lin Qinghuan around like that: This Ye Fengyun has real nerve—he even dares to boss Lin Qinghuan about. Let’s see how he dies in a moment.
Lin Qinghuan stood where she was in silence for a long while, then sniffed and said in a slightly strange voice, “Fine. Get in the car.”
Clearly, her mood was no longer as bright as when she first arrived.
“Come on, wife, let’s get in.” Ye Fengyun led Tang Shihan and Lin Yuzhen into the car. Lin Qinghuan said nothing, started the engine, and drove off, leaving Lin Lei and his wife standing there in a daze.
What was going on?
The ever-arrogant Lin Qinghuan had actually let Ye Fengyun order her around.
What on earth had Ye Fengyun done to make even Lin Qinghuan treat him so well?
On the way, no one said a word, and the atmosphere grew awkward.
As a woman herself, Tang Shihan could keenly sense that there was something unusual between Lin Qinghuan and Ye Fengyun. Though nothing had been said outright, she could still feel a faint thread of hostility coming from the other woman.
Before long, they arrived home. After getting out of the car, Tang Shihan and Lin Yuzhen walked ahead, while Ye Fengyun was stopped by Lin Qinghuan.
“What is it?” Ye Fengyun looked baffled.
Lin Qinghuan’s voice was heavy with grievance. “You called me here just to use me as a driver?”
Ye Fengyun scratched his head, looking puzzled. “Not exactly. I just thought of you, that’s all.”
Lin Qinghuan froze for a moment, her expression easing slightly. “Thought of me how?”
Ye Fengyun said, “I thought you’d come pick us up.”
Lin Qinghuan laughed in exasperation and shot back, “Why would you think I’d come pick you up?”
Ye Fengyun chuckled. “What else could it be? You were dazzled by this brother’s charm.”
Lin Qinghuan could not help laughing. She swatted him and snapped, “Charm? You’ve got no charm worth mentioning. Go take a look at yourself in the mirror.”
“You’d still be willing to come if I had no charm?” Ye Fengyun asked.
“I must have been out of my mind, all right?” Lin Qinghuan pouted, sounding annoyed.
Ye Fengyun smiled, then suddenly became serious. “By the way, how is your grandmother doing?”
“She’s much better physically. It’s just that she still dreams every night. Although she no longer gets that eerie feeling of a ghost pressing down on her in bed like before, I still can’t shake the sense that something about her is becoming stranger and stranger.”
Ye Fengyun’s brow furrowed, as if something had just come to mind.
The Lin matriarch’s illness was certainly tied in one way or another to the Cloudwave Sect. If he could uncover the crucial point, he might be able to find out who that impostor claiming to be from the Cloudwave Sect really was—and he might also be able to discover the true cause of the fire all those years ago.
“If anything comes up, contact me immediately,” Ye Fengyun instructed.
Lin Qinghuan said irritably, “I know, I know.”
Ye Fengyun nodded, offered her a few more reminders, then turned and headed home.
At the Tang family home, Tang Dahai had already returned to his room to sleep, apparently having been deeply angered by what had happened that night.
Lin Yuzhen washed up and went to bed, while Tang Shihan took the opportunity to call Ye Fengyun into the living room.
“What’s wrong, wife?” Ye Fengyun asked.
Tang Shihan looked at him accusingly. “What exactly is your relationship with Lin Qinghuan?”
“Just two people who happened to cross paths,” Ye Fengyun said.
“Two people who happened to cross paths, and she drives through the middle of the night to pick you up?”
“Didn’t she pick you up too?” Ye Fengyun smiled harmlessly.
Tang Shihan was practically driven insane by him.
“Cut the nonsense! Tell me the truth—what exactly is going on between you two?”
