Chapter 9
Ye Fengyun casually caught the shorts and tilted his head, saying, “Wife, why didn’t you knock before coming in?”
Tang Shihan turned her back, scolding loudly, “This is my house! I’ll come in whenever I want. You ugly pervert! Stripping naked at home, are you trying to act indecent?”
Ye Fengyun looked innocent. “Can’t I get undressed in my own room? Or should I go to your room next time?”
“Get lost!”
“All right.”
Ye Fengyun began to roll up in the bedsheet right on the bed.
Tang Shihan’s face turned scarlet, and her breath quickened. This annoying man might be ugly, but his physique was truly impressive—his abs were well-defined, and his muscles rippled like a stream flowing over polished stone. Perfect… No, what am I thinking? How could I possibly be attracted to this ugly man?
But the image of Ye Fengyun’s perfect body kept tempting her to steal another glance.
Although a strong and independent woman, Tang Shihan had never seen a man’s naked body before, so she was naturally flustered. She sneaked a look and found Ye Fengyun rolling around on the bed, which made her pause and nearly laugh out loud.
This ugly guy was actually rather cute.
No, I can’t let myself feel anything for this man.
She forced herself to keep her composure, then cleared her throat, adjusted her mood, and said coldly, “Come out. I have something to say to you.”
“Okay!” Ye Fengyun jumped down from the bed.
Tang Shihan’s heart pounded, and she immediately turned away. “Put your clothes on before you come out!”
She stormed out and slammed the door, sitting down in the living room, but her heart kept racing and her face grew hot.
Tang Shihan held her face in her hands, scolding herself, “Tang Shihan, what’s gotten into you? Are you so lonely just because you haven’t had a man in so long? How could you be so shameless?”
Yet the image kept replaying in her mind, impossible to banish.
Just then, Ye Fengyun came out of the guest room fully dressed.
Tang Shihan composed herself and her posture, then spoke with icy detachment: “Three days from now is the Longhai Group’s investment conference. I managed to get us a spot through a classmate’s connections. When we get there, watch your mouth—don’t try to show off or put on airs. Your dignity is mine as well. Know your place—you’re just the Tang family’s live-in son-in-law, brought in to bear a child.”
Ye Fengyun wasn’t offended. He smiled benignly. “I knew my wife was capable. I can rest easy and be a kept man now.”
Tang Shihan was speechless. How could a man be so shameless?
She had only just begun to see him in a better light, but any good impression vanished instantly.
With a cold snort, Tang Shihan turned and went back to her room.
Ye Fengyun also returned to the guest room. Looking at the number on his phone, he muttered, “Master said the Longhai Group belongs to my mother. Asking for a partnership should be perfectly reasonable, right?”
Muttering to himself, Ye Fengyun then sat down to meditate.
The next day, Ye Fengyun met with Old Yun as agreed. Old Yun drove him to a scenic mountain area.
“My old friend is Elder Xu of the Xu family. This mountain is called Emerald Cloud Mountain, home to the city’s most luxurious villa estates. Of the five top villas in Yun Chuan City, the Xu family owns three. The other two are owned by the Long family and a mysterious prominent figure.”
Ye Fengyun glanced out the window. The landscape was indeed beautiful, with clear mountains and flowing water, warblers singing, pine trees, and all manner of lively creatures.
Moreover, the spiritual energy here was abundant—perfect for cultivation.
For Ye Fengyun, this place was like a spring of rejuvenation; just being here was restorative.
“This is a good place for training. I should get myself a villa here someday.”
They reached the summit villa area.
Ye Fengyun got out of the car and looked up at the towering, luxurious villa, his mouth agape.
He’d thought the Tang family’s villa was grand, but these were far more opulent—at least five times the size.
It truly shattered his understanding of the world.
Ye Fengyun and Old Yun entered the villa, noticing a few servants and bodyguards stationed around, though not many.
Old Yun explained, “There are only four bodyguards here, but don’t underestimate them. They’re all top-tier retired special forces and martial arts experts—each one could take on an army single-handedly.”
Although somewhat exaggerated, Ye Fengyun could tell their true strength at a glance.
Not bad, he thought, but nothing exceptional to him.
With a cheerful smile, Ye Fengyun said, “Anyone who can pay ten million for a consultation must be someone important. Take me to the patient.”
Old Yun nodded and led Ye Fengyun inside.
As soon as they entered, a well-dressed, refined man greeted them anxiously.
“Old Yun, you’re finally here. My father’s condition has worsened. I haven’t eaten or slept—I was so worried. Thank goodness you’ve come; it’s a relief.”
This man was Xu Dahai, Elder Xu’s eldest son, considered a model of filial piety in the family for his constant care at his father’s bedside.
In contrast, Elder Xu’s second son was seen as unfilial—not even visiting or offering a word of concern.
Old Yun smiled. “This time I’ve brought you a miracle doctor. He’ll surely cure Elder Xu.”
“Where is he?” Xu Dahai looked around.
“That would be me,” Ye Fengyun said, pointing to himself.
Xu Dahai froze, frowning. “Old Yun, is this a joke? This young man is supposed to be a miracle doctor?”
Old Yun explained, “Don’t be fooled by his age—he’s exceptional!”
“Hmph.” Xu Dahai’s face was full of disbelief. How skilled could a boy this young be, even if he’d studied medicine from birth?
Seeing Xu Dahai’s disdain, Ye Fengyun deliberately provoked him. “Care to make a bet? If I can save your father, you give me one of these villas. If I fail, Old Yun and I are at your disposal.”
Xu Dahai burst out laughing. “What kind of talk is that? Old Yun is a respected figure in the medical world—I wouldn’t dare disrespect him. But as for you, I accept your bet.”
Old Yun hastily tugged Ye Fengyun’s sleeve, whispering in his ear, “You’re here to treat a patient, not to gamble! Are you absolutely certain you can do this?”
Ye Fengyun’s lips curled with a roguish smile. He’d loved making bets since childhood and was fiercely competitive. Since he’d agreed, he had no intention of losing.
“Deal.”
Xu Dahai smiled confidently, thinking, Father’s illness is beyond cure. This kid is bound to lose. Since he’s so arrogant, I’ll have them stay behind to serve the old man—fetch his chamber pot and clean up his mess.
“Follow me.”
Xu Dahai led Ye Fengyun and Old Yun toward Elder Xu’s room.
Along the way, Ye Fengyun overheard servants whispering.
“How many doctors is this now?”
“I lost count. The young master really is devoted—he’s spent a fortune bringing in famous doctors from all over.”
“Sigh, compared to him, the second young master is a true ingrate. The old master’s so ill, and he hasn’t even bothered to visit.”
Ye Fengyun frowned, thinking, Is Xu Dahai really that devoted? Then why is he so sure I’ll fail to cure Elder Xu? A truly filial son would be desperate for his father’s recovery, but he seems to lack urgency, almost as if he’s just putting on a show.
With these doubts, Ye Fengyun entered Elder Xu’s bedroom and saw the old man lying gravely ill in bed, the air thick with the stench of filth.
Ye Fengyun shot a glance at Xu Dahai and noticed his slight frown and the look of disgust in his eyes.
Something about Xu Dahai didn’t add up.
“Everyone, out. I need a quiet environment.”
Xu Dahai said nothing more and led everyone out.
Once the room was empty, Ye Fengyun silently recited an incantation, pinched his fingers before his eyes, and a deep blue light flashed in his gaze. The room darkened in his vision, and every subtle movement became visible.
Ye Fengyun scanned the surroundings. At that moment, a flashing red dot caught his eye.
