Chapter 28
Chapter 28
After repeated reminders, Elder Yun took Ye Fengyun to the territory of the Black Tiger Gang.
Within the Black Tiger Gang’s domain, Ye Fengyun followed Elder Yun inside. Here, entertainment venues were everywhere. Of course, these were not the sort of respectable establishments one would traditionally expect.
Elder Yun walked ahead, with Ye Fengyun close behind. As they passed a building called “Fairyland Supreme,” Ye Fengyun noticed several women standing by the entrance, dressed provocatively with heavy makeup.
“Come on in, plenty of new girls inside~” called a flirtatious woman, mature but still alluring, beckoning to Ye Fengyun.
Ye Fengyun responded with a smile and a wave, saying, “Sister, you’re ill.”
The woman paused in surprise.
Ye Fengyun continued, “You’re suffering from kidney yin deficiency, a loss of blood. I’m a doctor; if I say you’re ill, you’re ill.”
“You’re the one who’s sick!” the woman cursed at him, then turned to attract other customers.
The two continued onward. Although the outer area was lavish and decadent, as they delved deeper, a chilling wind seemed to rise, as if they were entering an abyss.
The surrounding buildings were dark, with curtains drawn across their doors, second-floor windows open to the wind that wailed eerily, sending shivers down the spine.
The contrast was stark—it was like falling from heaven into hell in the blink of an eye.
“We’re almost there,” Elder Yun said.
Ye Fengyun nodded and followed him to the gates of a grand mansion.
The mansion was enormous, its blood-red doors gaping like the maw of some monstrous beast, and the wind that hit them was cold and bleak.
Guards stood on either side of the entrance, like two fangs in the beast’s mouth, their piercing eyes fixed on Ye Fengyun and Elder Yun.
“What are you here for?” one guard demanded fiercely, eyes flashing with menace.
Anyone else might have been frightened out of their wits, but Ye Fengyun answered calmly, “Looking for someone.”
“Who?”
“Li Hu.”
“I think you’re looking for death,” the guard’s gaze sharpened. “How dare you call Brother Tiger’s name directly? Who do you think you are?”
Ye Fengyun grinned with interest. “So Li Hu’s nickname is ‘Death’? Then I’m here to see Li Death.”
Both guards stepped forward, menacing as fiends, closing in on Ye Fengyun.
Elder Yun hurriedly apologized and revealed his identity.
Upon hearing Elder Yun’s name, the guards’ attitude softened slightly, though they remained hostile toward Ye Fengyun.
“Elder Yun, please wait here. I’ll go announce your arrival.”
One guard entered the mansion.
Just then, a burly man with a face covered in scars returned with his men. Catching sight of Ye Fengyun at the gate, his curiosity was instantly piqued.
He had never in his life seen anyone so ugly.
The scar-faced man considered himself quite unattractive, but today he encountered someone even uglier than himself, and his interest grew.
“What rare beast is this? Did you crawl out of the Classic of Mountains and Seas?” the scar-faced man strode forward, laughing heartily.
His men also caught sight of Ye Fengyun’s appearance and ridiculed him in turn.
Elder Yun, worried Ye Fengyun might stir up trouble, whispered a warning, “Xiao Ye, don’t take it to heart. We’re here to see Li Hu—don’t cause any trouble.”
Ye Fengyun shrugged indifferently.
The scar-faced man and his men were laughing boisterously, while Ye Fengyun seemed not to hear at all.
The laughter faded from the scar-faced man’s face. He stepped forward, eyes full of provocation.
“Hey, ugly, can you hear me? Are you so ugly your ears don’t work?” he taunted again.
Ye Fengyun continued to ignore him, even yawning.
“I’m talking to you!”
