Chapter 134

After half an hour of torment, Tang Yilin was finally released.

She curled up on the floor, drenched in cold sweat and gasping for breath.

Ye Fengyun crouched down. Looking at her exhausted state, he asked with a grin, “Are you still going to make trouble for my wife?”

“N-no, never again!”

Tang Yilin shook her head frantically.

Ye Fengyun called toward Tang Shihan’s bedroom, “Wife, should I just let her go?”

“Make her sign a written pledge that we’ll leave each other alone from now on.”

“You heard her.”

Ye Fengyun took out a pen and paper and handed them to Tang Yilin. “Write it.”

Tang Yilin had no choice but to write out the pledge, promising that she and Tang Shihan would never interfere with each other again.

Once that was done, Ye Fengyun let her leave.

Though Tang Yilin was deeply resentful, she still departed with her head bowed in defeat.

The days passed one after another. During that time, Tang Yilin indeed stopped provoking Tang Shihan, and Tang Shihan’s career flourished.

Three days later, Old Master Xu held the art exhibition as promised. Numerous prominent figures had been invited, and Ye Fengyun and Tang Shihan were naturally among them.

Before they left, Tang Shihan had already shown great interest in the exhibition.

According to Old Master Xu, he had just acquired an authentic painting by the renowned Master Yunfeng, and it would be displayed that evening.

Ye Fengyun was not particularly interested in such things. He yawned and asked, “Master Yunfeng? Is he really that impressive?”

Tang Shihan shot him a sidelong glance. “Master Yunfeng is a great master of freehand painting and calligraphy. His works possess a distinctive personal style, using the simplest brushwork to evoke scenes of profound artistic conception.

“Not only that, Master Yunfeng is indifferent to fame and fortune. Even after becoming world-renowned, he has never appeared in public. To this day, no one has ever seen his true face.”

Tang Shihan genuinely admired Master Yunfeng—not only for his art, but also for his attitude toward life.

For those caught in the mortal world and unable to rise above it, someone as detached from worldly concerns as Yunfeng was truly worthy of admiration.

Ye Fengyun curled his lip and said sourly, “You make it sound as though Master Yunfeng were your husband.”

At that, Tang Shihan froze for a moment before looking at him with an ambiguous smile.

“Are you jealous?” she asked.

Ye Fengyun had always been a man of unyielding spirit. How could he possibly admit to being jealous?

He turned his face away and said irritably, “What a joke. Me, jealous? Women who like me stretch all the way to the Western Hemisphere. I can always find another one. Why bother getting jealous?”

Tang Shihan did not indulge him. With a smile, she said, “Is that so? Very well. Since you dislike Master Yunfeng so much, I’ll go by myself.”

With that, she walked a few steps ahead.

Ye Fengyun pursed his lips, but in the end he could not hold back. “Hey, come back! If you don’t, I’m really leaving!”

Tang Shihan kept her expression impassive, though inwardly she was secretly delighted.

How could she fail to understand the little schemes men played? Tang Shihan had little experience in love, but the ability to advance and retreat with perfect ease seemed to be an instinct women were born with.

Still, Tang Shihan was not the sort of woman who demanded more than she was given. She knew when to stop. Since Ye Fengyun had offered her a way out, she had to take it; otherwise, neither of them would come out looking good.

Tang Shihan turned and walked back to his side. “Looking at paintings alone would be rather dull. With so much space, the place would feel empty.”

Ye Fengyun gave a disdainful snort and said with affected solemnity, “In that case, I suppose I can accompany you for a while.”

The two of them linked arms and entered the Xu family villa.

Butler Lin was waiting for them in front of the villa.
