Chapter 113: Her Feelings for Him Had Nothing to Do with Love
She had never imagined that she would fall in love with a man so quickly.
But love is love.
Since she had fallen, she would no longer choose to run away.
Before, her feelings for Carson had always been unclear, leaving her confused. She thought she somewhat liked him.
It was only today that she realized what she truly admired was his talent in filmmaking and his gentle, refined gentlemanly nature.
To like someone means that when you face them, you become nervous, your face flushes, your heart races, and deep inside you feel happiness and sweetness—just like how she felt when she was with Yan Yichen.
But with Carson, she never experienced any of that. There was only respect and distance, a kind of invisible chasm perpetually standing between them, impossible to cross.
She respected him, admired him.
But it had nothing to do with love!
She hadn’t understood this before.
Today, because of Yan Yichen, she finally understood.
“What are you daydreaming about?”
Yan Yichen had, at some point, placed a cup of coffee in front of her, softly asking the absent-minded Meng Yier.
Meng Yier was briefly startled. Looking at the usually cold and indifferent man before her, now wearing an apron with a gentle, indulgent smile playing at the corners of his lips and eyes, it felt like a different world altogether.
“Nothing… just thinking about some things…”
Meng Yier shook her head slightly and gave him a bright smile.
“Have some coffee first.”
There was an unmistakable tenderness hiding beneath his deep, cool voice.
Meng Yier took the coffee, sipped a little, and nodded in satisfaction.
“Hmm… not bad, thank you.”
The man smiled, then suddenly leaned forward, his dark eyes locking tightly onto her bright ones with deep concern.
“What are you thinking about? Is it about me?”
Meng Yier laughed and pushed his left shoulder, preventing him from coming any closer.
“No… You should hurry up and cook.”
“No?”
Yan Yichen raised an eyebrow and stepped even closer, his voice growing colder, his dark eyes filled with a dangerous aura.
Meng Yier blinked, somewhat incredulous at Yan Yichen’s sudden shift.
Was this man a ticking time bomb?
So unpredictable.
Isn’t it usually said that women are the fickle ones?
Looks like she needed to be cautious in how she dealt with him from now on.
“What are you thinking about then? Carson?”
Meng Yier’s heart trembled at the harsh, sinister look that flickered in the man’s eyes when he mentioned Carson.
Why was his jealousy so baffling?
“No…”
The man’s ink-black eyes looked at her with confusion.
“I was just wondering… when we’ll eat.”
Yan Yichen was momentarily stunned, then smiled with satisfaction. Leaning in, his long fingers gently cupped her jaw.
His deep, steady gaze held hers tightly, and his cool, low voice carried a strong warning as it slowly whispered into her ear.
“From now on, your eyes and your heart can only see me, think of me, remember that, okay?”
Good heavens!
This man was unbearably domineering!
Yet, the voice that spoke such unreasonable words was so enchanting, filled with temptation and allure.
From the very beginning, she had been captivated by this voice, entranced as if bewitched, longing only to see its owner.
“Mm…”
Under the spell of his voice, Meng Yier couldn’t help but nod.
Yan Yichen’s lips curled into a slight smile as he tenderly pecked her on the lips.
“Good girl…”
Then, reluctantly gazing at her for a while longer, he resumed his cooking duties.
