Chapter 91: The Fall of the Tiger Head Gang
Inside the villa, the Tiger Head Gang leader had seen his share of blood and violence over the years, but never had he imagined that, in less than ten minutes, more than a hundred men from his headquarters would be slaughtered, and slaughtered with such savage cruelty. Fear froze his hands and feet cold. Trembling uncontrollably, he looked at Lin Feng, who was drenched in blood and walking slowly toward the father and son, and stammered, "You are not human. You are a devil. You are not human. You are a devil!"
Young Master Li was even more pathetic. Already terrified senseless by the sight of Lin Feng cutting his way in, he had long since wet himself, and now his trousers were soaked through. He was kneeling on the floor, bowing and begging for his life as Lin Feng approached the pair. "Young Master Lin, I was blind and failed to recognize your greatness. Please, be magnanimous and spare me! My family has a lot of money. My father can give it all to you. Name your price!"
With a face as cold as frost and killing intent thick around him, Lin Feng stopped before the Tiger Head Gang leader and his son. He did not strike at once. Instead, he looked at them with utter indifference, the murder in his gaze making them seem like prey condemned to die. The two of them were so shaken by that look that they were on the verge of collapse, when Lin Feng's emotionless voice suddenly rang out.
"Tonight, only one of you gets to live. Who lives, you decide for yourselves."
After speaking, Lin Feng watched them as one might watch a dying beast struggling in its final moments.
To Young Master Li, those words sounded like heavenly music. Excited, he scrambled to his father’s side and clutched the Tiger Head Gang leader’s leg. "Dad, you spoil me the most. You’ll definitely let me live, won’t you?"
The Tiger Head Gang leader glared down at the son beneath his feet. Hearing those words, a chill of sorrow swept through his heart. He had never imagined that the son he had always doted on would say such things.
"You want to live," he said numbly and calmly, "so you want your father to die in your place, is that it?"
"Dad, I can’t bear to lose you either, but I don’t want to die. You wouldn’t let me die, would you? You’ll definitely let me live, right?" Young Master Li did not dare lift his head to look at his father’s face. He only hugged his leg and cried out in panic.
The Tiger Head Gang leader stared expressionlessly at his son. After a long silence, he said in a cold voice to Lin Feng, "Fine. Let my son live. I’ll die."
Those words seemed like the last lifeline. Hearing them, Young Master Li was finally moved to a little emotion, and mustered the courage to raise his head and look at his father.
Unfortunately, he did not notice the ice-cold malice hidden in his father’s words. The moment he looked up, the Tiger Head Gang leader somehow produced a fruit knife. In the instant Young Master Li lifted his head, the blade flashed like a streak of cold light and sliced across his throat, so fast it was beyond the reach of ordinary people.
Young Master Li froze. A strange coolness spread beneath his neck. He could not help reaching up to touch it, only to find his hand wet. Little by little, breathing became difficult. When he lowered his head and saw his hand smeared with blood, then looked up again to find the fruit knife in his father’s hand with blood still clinging to the blade, dripping slowly from the tip, he finally came to himself and understood what had happened.
He looked at his father with rage in his eyes. But his throat had been cut, and now he could no longer speak clearly. Only fragments came out, barely audible.
"Dad... why...?"
Before he could finish, Young Master Li collapsed heavily at the Tiger Head Gang leader’s feet. The gang leader remained unmoved. Looking at his son’s corpse, he said coldly, "Beast."
Then he lifted his head and looked at Lin Feng with calm eyes. Though his expression was flat and devoid of light, a deeper look still revealed the fire of hatred burning within.
Lin Yu and Zhao Ze were both stunned by the brutality of the scene. They had never expected the Tiger Head Gang leader to be so merciless that, in order to survive, he would actually strike his own son. Even tigers would not eat their young, yet this man was worse than an animal. Men like him could never be allowed to leave alive. If they let him go now, there would surely be endless trouble in the future.
Both of them looked anxiously at Lin Feng, wanting to know what he was thinking. Was he really going to honor his word and let such a man leave?
"You really are not human. Go," Lin Feng said, looking at the Tiger Head Gang leader before him. He too could see the hatred in the man's eyes.
"Lin Feng, we can't let him go!" Lin Yu and Zhao Ze cried out at the same time, alarmed by his decision.
But their words seemed to have no effect on Lin Feng. He continued to regard the Tiger Head Gang leader with perfect calm.
By then, the gang leader himself was thoroughly confused. He had just killed his own son with his own hands because he believed there was still a chance Lin Feng would keep his promise and let him leave. Though part of his sorrow had come from his son’s words, the greater reason was that he did not want to die.
"You really are letting me go?" he asked in surprise, confirming once more.
"What, you don’t want to leave? Do you want to stay and be buried with your son and your gang?" Lin Feng replied indifferently.
"Oh, no. I’m leaving right now!" The Tiger Head Gang leader, delighted by the confirmation, hurried toward the door without a second glance, without the slightest reluctance. He did not even dare look at the son who had died at his feet. Yet the moment he turned his back on the three of them and walked toward the villa entrance, his face twisted into a vicious snarl. His lips had been bitten open by the rage he was forcing down, and blood was already seeping from the corner of his mouth, slowly dripping down his chin.
Seeing that the Tiger Head Gang leader was about to leave the villa, Zhao Ze could not allow a man like that to walk free. If he did, he would only become a future threat to Lin Feng. Just as Zhao Ze was about to move to catch up and kill him to silence the matter forever, a streak of cold light suddenly flashed before his eyes. When he looked closer, he realized it was the same fruit knife the Tiger Head Gang leader had used to kill his son. But now that knife had become the scythe of death, slicing toward the man as he was about to step out the door.
The Tiger Head Gang leader had nearly reached the threshold, and excitement surged in his heart. No one wanted to die. Everyone wanted to live. So long as he could get out of that doorway, he would survive. One foot had already crossed the threshold, and the other was just about to follow when a searing pain suddenly shot through his chest.
Enduring the agony, he lowered his head and glanced down. The fruit knife with which he had personally killed his son had already pierced straight through his heart. Soon, he began to feel his whole body grow cold, and his head grew heavier and heavier. By the time he had exhausted his last ounce of strength and fallen to the ground, the thought in his mind was not that Lin Feng had broken his promise, but that this was the retribution for killing his own son.
Zhao Ze saw that Lin Feng had ultimately struck after all and had not spared the Tiger Head Gang leader. After confirming that the man was dead beyond doubt, Zhao Ze hurried over to Lin Feng and said anxiously, "Young Master Lin, you should leave first. I’ll handle things here!"
Lin Feng stopped Zhao Ze, who was eager to rush off and set fire to the place to destroy the evidence, and said calmly, "No need to handle it. Leave it exactly as it is and let it all come to light. I want to see how the Wang family deals with it once it is exposed."
"Ah? Lin Feng, is that really appropriate? This is a serious murder case. If the Wang family gets hold of a weakness like this, it will be extremely unfavorable to you!" Lin Yu said anxiously, stepping forward to persuade him after hearing his decision.
"You don’t understand. Let’s go," Lin Feng replied lightly.
With that single sentence, he turned and left the Tiger Head Gang villa.
Lin Yu and Zhao Ze were left standing there. They exchanged a puzzled look, each seeing the same deep confusion in the other’s eyes. But neither of them dared defy Lin Feng’s decision. In the end, they had no choice but to abandon the idea of setting the place on fire and destroying the evidence, and quickly followed after him.
With the Tiger Head Gang matter settled, Lin Feng did not want his family to worry. He ordered Lin Yu to drive back at once, but they first needed to make a stop in the city center. Lin Feng was covered in blood. Though it had already dried, the smell of blood still hung heavily about him. If he returned home like this, he would frighten everyone half to death.
So Lin Feng paused in the city center and asked Zhao Ze to buy him a clean set of clothes before the shops closed. Lin Feng took the clothes Zhao Ze bought and changed right there in the car with complete ease. When he was done, he told Zhao Ze, "Stay in Yanjing at a hotel for the next few days and wait for my orders at any time. Also tell Vermilion Bird to send some people to Yanjing. With the Tiger Head Gang leader dead and no one in charge, you need to take it over as quickly as possible."
"Don’t worry, Young Master Lin. I know what to do," Zhao Ze said at once, full of confidence.
"Good. If anything comes up that you can’t handle, call me anytime. In Yanjing, my power is much greater than it is in Zhanhai City," Lin Feng said after a moment, confirming the arrangement once more.
Zhao Ze naturally understood the weight of Lin Feng’s backing in Yanjing. After all, he was the grandson of the Lin family, one of Yanjing’s four great families. That kind of background was no joke. After hearing the instructions again, Zhao Ze hurriedly nodded.
Once Lin Feng saw that Zhao Ze understood everything clearly, he told Lin Yu to start the car and head back to the Lin family estate.
The vehicle slowly pulled away, leaving Zhao Ze standing where he was, watching Lin Feng’s car disappear into the distance. Only when the taillights could no longer be seen did Zhao Ze take out his phone. After all the chaos, it was already past eleven at night. Even so, he still dialed Vermilion Bird immediately, exactly as Lin Feng had instructed.
In truth, Vermilion Bird had not gone to rest either. After Zhao Ze had hurriedly informed the several hall masters that Young Master Lin had summoned them urgently, briefly explained the situation, and then rushed off to Yanjing, all of them had been deeply worried. Vermilion Bird, in particular, was in charge of intelligence work. Lin Feng had already revealed some of his plans to her before, and she had arranged for people to go to Yanjing in advance. From the intelligence reports sent back from Yanjing, she already knew what had happened there today, and so she too was waiting for further news.
Suddenly, the private phone beside her rang. That number was known only to the hall masters, the gang leader, and Young Master Lin. Vermilion Bird immediately picked it up. Seeing that the call was from Zhao Ze, she quickly pressed the answer key.
Zhao Ze’s voice came through at once, and he told her everything that had happened tonight with Young Master Lin, along with Lin Feng’s plan. The call was brief, and the conversation ended just as quickly. But after putting the phone down, Vermilion Bird found that her heart could not calm for a long time.
She had never imagined that Young Master Lin had truly wiped out the Tiger Head Gang. The plan he had discussed with her before was not a joke after all.
