Chapter 102: Lin Feng Attends the Appointment Alone
"It is not that I am unwilling to provide them, and besides, I already expressed at the Zhongnanhai meeting today that I am prepared to distribute to the state. However, since these products are essentially from your company, I still need to consult you personally. Furthermore, you previously suggested granting the agency rights for Hong Kong and Taiwan to the Ma family, and I have already promised the three other major families the agency rights for Europe. If we do not handle this properly, the Lin family will lose its credibility." Elder Lin voiced these concerns to those in the room; this was precisely what weighed most heavily on him.
After hearing this, Lin Feng recalled that he was indeed the one who first proposed the agency rights for the Ma family. If he were to hand over all the rights to the state now, he would be breaking his word, and he certainly did not want to carry such a reputation.
"How about this? You can negotiate with the top officials, Elder. Whatever has already been promised should not be retracted. After all, these agency rights cannot be given entirely to foreign enterprises; we must allocate a portion to domestic ones. Otherwise, either I or the high-ranking officials will be cursed by the nation's entrepreneurs." Lin Feng thought for a moment and tentatively offered his suggestion to everyone.
Elder Lin and the others brightened at his words, immediately realizing that this was a viable solution—one that could satisfy the state's leadership while resolving the issue of the Lin family's credibility.
Elder Lin excitedly slapped the desk in the study and stood up, exclaiming, "Yes, this is a good method! This is a great method!" He began pacing back and forth in the study, clearly relieved.
Seeing that a solution had been found, the others were also pleased. Lin Chuanzhi suddenly remembered the request made by Ling Weihua when they had tea earlier that day. He spoke tactfully to those in the room, specifically targeting Lin Feng: "Since we are distributing rights, Lin Feng, could you see if you could spare a small territory for Uncle Ling’s company? You know he is one of the few friends Father has in Zhanhai City, and since you and Shixuan are friends, so..." As he spoke, his voice trailed off, losing confidence.
Seeing his father’s guilty look, Lin Feng realized that his father likely hadn't expected the state to reclaim the distribution rights for his company's agencies, leading him to make promises to Ling Weihua. Although Ling Weihua was not particularly impressive, Lin Feng did consider Ling Shixuan a friend. After considering it for a moment, he nodded and said, "Since you have asked, Father, giving them a small territory is fine. It will save me the trouble of Uncle Ling complaining that I didn't even leave him a sip of soup when we next meet!"
Lin Chuanzhi had been prepared to return empty-handed, but he hadn't expected Lin Feng to accommodate Ling Weihua by conceding a piece of territory. Excitedly, he sat up straight and asked, "Which territory are you willing to give? Tell me so I can give Ling Weihua an answer."
Since Lin Feng had already made his decision, Elder Lin did not intervene, and the other members of the Lin family watched the father and son in silence—many of them not even knowing who the Ling family, Ling Weihua, or Ling Shixuan were.
"Let's give them the agency rights for South Korea. I believe the South Korean market alone will be enough for the Ling family to feast on," Lin Feng said after mentally reviewing the global market layout.
"South Korea... South Korea is good. Although the population isn't huge and the territory is small, their economic capacity is strong and consumption levels are high. It’s a great market!" Lin Chuanzhi exclaimed, gesturing excitedly. He had expected Lin Feng to give them a trivial market to brush Ling Weihua off, never imagining that Lin Feng would offer such a lucrative one. This gesture effectively showed that Lin Feng was giving him plenty of face, allowing him to hold his head high when responding to Ling Weihua. Furthermore, when Ling Weihua had spoken to him earlier, he had mentioned that his company already had distribution channels in South Korea.
With the main matters settled, Elder Lin ushered everyone out of the study. He wrote down the allocated agency regions on a piece of paper, intending to call the Premier later to inform him of the outcome of the family meeting and to discuss Lin Feng’s new proposal with the state leadership.
As Lin Feng and the others exited the study, they saw Grandmother Lin chatting with the other women of the family in the main hall. Liu Runli spotted Lin Feng and beckoned him over, signaling that she had something to say.
Curious, Lin Feng sat down in front of Liu Runli and looked at her inquisitive, gossiping expression. "Mom, why the look? Did something happen?"
"Heh heh, it's not me who's in trouble—it's you! Tell me honestly, have you done something to wrong Ruoxi? I’m telling you, Ruoxi is the daughter-in-law I’ve chosen. If you dare to bully her, I will be the first one not to forgive you, do you hear me?" Liu Runli started off with a gossipy tone but became increasingly stern.
Lin Chuanzhi, following behind Lin Feng, had overheard the reprimand. He immediately assumed a fatherly air of authority and joined in, scolding, "Are you itching for a beating? You’ve finally settled down, and you already have a girlfriend—yet you’re still out there flirting with others?"
"Wait, wait, stop! I don't understand a word of what you're saying!" Lin Feng asked, feeling wronged as he faced his parents' anger and the accusatory glares of the other elders, who looked at him as if he were a heartless philanderer.
"Hmph, still acting innocent! Look at what this is. Someone delivered an invitation to the Lin residence, asking you to meet alone at a hotel tonight. The signature is Iga Toka! Just look—a man and a woman meeting at a hotel at night, what kind of good could come of that? I wouldn't have known if I hadn't checked, but I had Xue'er look her up online. This Iga Toka is no simple person; she’s one of the two great beauties of the Island Nation. That face and figure are so seductive that even I, a woman, can't help but notice—let alone a hot-blooded brat like you!" Liu Runli brandished the invitation the housekeeper had just handed to her. Iga Toka had had her assistant deliver it, knowing of Lin Feng's notorious history in Zhanhai and assuming he was a lecherous man. She had used very suggestive language in the invitation, which would lead any outsider to believe the two had an intimate relationship. She had not anticipated that the invitation would end up in the hands of the notoriously gossipy Liu Runli.
Lin Feng took the invitation, still bewildered, hoping to find an answer within the cursed thing.
As he opened it, a charming, faint fragrance wafted out. It was indeed alluring. Just looking at the card, he could tell the person who sent it was a beauty, but he couldn't recall ever meeting anyone like her. It was only after reading the entire note and seeing the signature "Iga Toka" that a faint memory flickered in his mind.
Seeing Lin Xue'er browsing the internet on her phone, Lin Feng snatched it, typed in the name "Iga Toka," and pulled up her profile. After reading it, he finally understood who she was. "So it was them," he thought. Looking at the photo of the impossibly beautiful woman on the screen, he scowled and cursed, "Damn it, these people are truly like ghosts that won't go away!"
Seeing Lin Feng's reaction after reading the invitation and checking the phone, Liu Runli realized something was wrong. "Lin Feng, what's wrong? Why did you say they won't go away?"
"Yes, Lin Feng, what happened?" Lin Chuanzhi asked with concern.
Hearing his parents' worry, Lin Feng realized his outburst had been too intense. He composed himself and said with a confident, arrogant air, "It's nothing, don't worry. This is Yanjing, and she’s just a woman. Do you really think I’m afraid of her? Remember, I wiped out over a hundred men from the Tiger Head Gang without breaking a sweat!"
Liu Runli, unimpressed by his bravado, retorted sharply, "If it were a man, I wouldn't worry—you wouldn't care how many came. But since it's a woman, and a great beauty at that, and you have a weakness for that sort of thing, that’s why I’m worried!"
Lin Feng was defeated by his mother. He stood there, speechless and shaking his head, while the other elders chuckled at the sight of the fearless young man being completely managed by his mother.
However, Lin Feng knew he had to go to the meeting tonight. If he didn't, he would be looked down upon by a woman from the Iga clan, which certainly wasn't his style.
By evening, Xia Ruoxi had returned to the Lin estate. After Lin Feng told her about the invitation, she gave him a stern warning—that if he dared to do anything out of line, she would personally cut off his "manhood." Lin Feng left the house with a tearful expression, silently worrying to himself: *What if she uses a beauty trap or drugs me? That wouldn't be me acting proactively!*
As Lin Feng walked out with a mischievous smirk, Mo Tian, from within the jade pendant, couldn't help but chime in with a tone of utter disdain: "There is no one as shameless as you!"
