Chapter 44: Hey, why are you so useless, kid?

The next day.
Su Yifan slept soundly until noon.
At that moment—
“Quick, use the nunchaku, hum hum ha he, quick, use the nunchaku, hum hum ha he, those who practice martial arts must remember, the benevolent are invincible…”
A burst of ringtone startled him awake from his dream.
Su Yifan rubbed his drowsy eyes and reached out to answer the phone.
“Hello, who is this?”
His tone was impatient, almost accusing.
But before he finished, a sly, sinister laugh came from the other end of the line:
“Heh heh heh… I heard you’re the boss of the Hongxing Gang?”
“No,” Su Yifan replied without even opening his eyes.
The person on the other end was surprised for a moment.
The next second—
Bang!
A pained scream rang out.
“You dare mess with me? I’ll kill you!”
The caller was about to hang up.
Su Yifan suddenly snapped his eyes open. When he saw the caller was Raven, he asked, “You’ve captured Raven? Who are you?”
The person who was about to hang up hesitated when he heard Su Yifan’s voice, then picked up the phone again.
“So you know him. Then why did you say you weren't the boss of the Hongxing Gang?”
He sounded exasperated.
What’s wrong with this guy? One moment he says he’s not the boss, the next he says he knows Raven.
Su Yifan replied calmly, “I’m not their boss, but I know him. Is that a problem?”
The other man sneered.
“I don’t care if you are or aren’t. Since he wanted to call you, you’d better get your spirit stones ready and come over.”
“Spirit stones?” Su Yifan was baffled.
Before he could ask more, the voice came again:
“You’ve got twenty minutes. Oh, and come alone. If not, you can collect his corpse.”
Beep… beep… beep…
Su Yifan was about to ask where they were, but the call was cut off.
The next second—
Ding—
A text message arrived.
Su Yifan opened it and saw an address.
“Abandoned factory on the Third Ring Road, East Suburb.”
Looking at the words on the screen, Su Yifan’s lips curled into a slight smile. “Well, looks like someone’s finally bold enough to rob me.”
…
Meanwhile.
In the Eastern Suburbs…

Inside the abandoned factory where Raven was being held.
Bang!
A middle-aged man in gray, a scar across his forehead, threw his phone on the ground, smashing it to pieces.
Seeing this, Raven said, “I advise you to let me go now. Otherwise, when Young Master Su arrives, you’ll all be dead!”
“What did you say?” the man in gray walked up to him, his gaze expressionless.
“I…”
Slap!
Raven had just opened his mouth when, unexpectedly, the man in gray slapped him across the face, the sound echoing through the whole factory.
“I dare you to speak!”
Slap!
“I dare you to speak!”
Slap!
The man in gray struck Raven twice more across the face.
“That’s enough, Second Brother. Don’t kill him,” a middle-aged man in black robes standing nearby cautioned the man in gray when he saw blood at the corner of Raven’s mouth.
The man in gray grinned, “Don’t worry, Big Brother. I’m holding back.”
Seeing Raven dazed from the blows, he lost interest.
“Big Brother, are you sure the guy on the other end of the phone really has spirit stones?” he asked.
The man in black replied gravely, “Don’t worry. If he dares to openly look for spirit stones everywhere, there’s a high chance he has them.”
Hearing this, the man in gray gave a thumbs up. “As expected from Big Brother, you think of everything.”
Then, glancing at Raven and the two unconscious men on the floor, he asked, “Big Brother, are we really going to let these people go afterwards?”
After all, they were robbing the other side today.
He didn’t want to let a tiger return to the mountain and have these people seek revenge.
The man in black understood his brother’s concerns and smiled. “Rest assured, Second Brother. None of them are leaving alive.”
As his words fell—
“Hahaha…”
The two brothers laughed heartily.
Just then—
Bang!
The iron door of the factory was kicked open!
The commotion startled the black-robed brothers.
They whirled around to the entrance and quickly saw a figure stride inside.
Su Yifan waved away the dust in the air, his gaze quickly landing on Raven, who was tied to a pillar.
“Young Master Su!”
Raven’s nose stung as he fought back tears at the sight of Su Yifan.
Since founding the Hongxing Gang, he had never encountered such a situation.
Now, faced with danger, Young Master Su had come alone to save him. He was deeply moved.
At that moment, he almost wished he were a woman, so this could be a true hero saving the beauty, and then…
But just as he was overwhelmed with emotion—

Su Yifan curled his lip and said coolly, “Hey, how did you end up so useless?”
“Young Master Su, I…”
Raven tried to explain.
“Alright, that’s enough, stop,” Su Yifan waved him off, turning his gaze to the two brothers in black.
“Heh heh heh, I thought you’d be some big, burly fellow, but you’re just this? Hahaha…” the man in gray sneered at Su Yifan.
The man in black also looked on with disdain.
He had been preparing for a fierce fight.
But now, faced with this young kid, there was nothing to fight—he could take him down with one hand.
Su Yifan wasn’t offended by their underestimation. He asked, “Was it you who called earlier?”
“That’s right, it was your grandpa here,” the man in gray puffed out his chest. “Well? Did you bring the spirit stones?”
“Of course,” Su Yifan reached for his chest.
The two brothers in black watched his hand intently.
If Su Yifan made any sudden moves, one of them would kill Raven instantly, while the other would attack him.
“What are you so nervous about?” Su Yifan shook his head with a smile and pulled a cloth pouch from his chest.
He shook it from side to side, the clear clinking of spirit stones echoing from within.
“That… that’s the sound of spirit stones!” the man in black exclaimed in excitement.
He knew that sound all too well.
“We’re rich, Big Brother!” the man in gray was equally elated.
The man in black nodded, “Exactly. And judging by the size of the bag, there must be at least a dozen stones inside.”
On the market, a single spirit stone was worth a hundred million. A dozen meant billions!
And even if they didn’t sell them, the stones were a lifeline in themselves.
“Well? I brought the spirit stones. Now will you let them go?” Su Yifan asked coolly.
The brothers exchanged a glance. The man in gray immediately understood and said, “Kid, toss the spirit stones over, and then we’ll let your people go.”
Su Yifan could clearly see through their little scheme, but he had no intention of exposing them. Instead, he nodded, “Alright.”
The brothers were surprised by his ready agreement, then overjoyed.
Was this kid an idiot?
As expected, youth means naivety.
“In that case, throw the spirit stones here,” the man in gray said, stretching out his hand to catch the pouch.
