Chapter 42: So What If I Killed Him? Is There a Problem?

Seeing Ye Wushuang fall dead, Xie Wei stood frozen for a moment before exclaiming, “You—you actually killed Ye Wushuang?”
“So what if I did? What’s the problem?” Su Yifan replied indifferently.
They had brought this upon themselves; he couldn’t be blamed for their fate.
Uninterested in dealing with these people any further, Su Yifan turned and began to head home.
“The Ye family won’t let you go. When the time comes, your Su family will suffer the consequences as well,” Xie Wei’s voice called from behind.
Su Yifan, having barely taken a few steps, halted at her words. In a flash, he appeared before Xie Wei, seized her by the throat, and lifted her off the ground.
“What did you just say?”
He could accept trouble being directed at him, but if anyone dared to threaten his family, no matter who they were, there could be only one outcome.
Death.
“Let…let go of me…” Xie Wei gasped, her face flushed red from the grip on her neck.
At that moment, another member of the Dragon Group hurried up.
“Release the leader, now!” said the middle-aged man, Deng Gang, a member of Xie Wei’s team.
Hong Jinlong and Zheng Yuan rushed over as well.
“Su, let’s talk this out. Please, put Team Leader Xie down.”
“Yes, Su, she only meant to warn you for your own good.”
At their words, Su Yifan loosened his grip.
Xie Wei collapsed to the ground, coughing violently.
“Leader, are you all right?” Deng Gang helped her up, glaring at Su Yifan with clear displeasure.
“You’d better lose that look,” Su Yifan said coldly, giving him no quarter. “I can’t stand people looking at me like that. If you’re not convinced, go ahead and try something. I’ll at least respect you as a man for that.”
Hearing this, Deng Gang averted his gaze. He was only at the late grandmaster level; if Su Yifan truly wished to kill him, it would be as easy as lifting a finger. His anger was only for how Su Yifan had just treated Xie Wei.
Seeing that Deng Gang knew his place, Su Yifan saw no need to pursue the matter further. He turned his gaze to Xie Wei.
“Ye Wushuang died by my hand because of his own doing,” he said. “Kindly relay this to the Ye family for me: if they’re dissatisfied, they’re welcome to come find me. But if they dare harm my family, I will wipe out every last one of them.”
“And finally, I’ll leave the cleanup here to you all. Goodbye.”
With those words, he turned and walked away.
This time, Xie Wei said nothing. She had just brushed past death’s door. For a split second, she could sense Su Yifan’s genuine intent to kill her; that murderous aura was no illusion. Never before had she felt such a deadly presence from anyone.

In that moment just now, she had felt as insignificant as an ant, while Su Yifan seemed to her like a god of slaughter descended to earth.
“Leader, are you alright?” Deng Gang asked with concern.
His voice snapped Xie Wei back from her shock. “I’m fine… I’m fine,” she murmured, her gaze still fixed on the direction in which Su Yifan had disappeared.
After a moment, she muttered to herself, “This time, the Ye family has truly provoked a death god.”
“Captain Xie, what did you say?” Hong Jinlong asked.
“It’s nothing,” she replied, turning to him. “Chief Hong, would you please help me bring the Ye family elder’s body back? I need to return immediately.”
This matter was urgent. She had to report it right away. Ideally, the higher-ups in the Dragon Group would intervene and persuade the Ye family to back down, or this centuries-old clan might cease to exist.
Su Yifan had dispatched a martial grandmaster with a mere wave of his hand; clearly, his strength was at a level even the Ye family could not afford to offend.
Not to mention the force behind him—anyone capable of training a youth in his early twenties to such power must themselves be terrifying. She suspected he was backed by some hidden, transcendent sect within the nation.
“Understood,” Hong Jinlong agreed, not daring to delay. He immediately took out his phone and made a call.
Twenty minutes later, Ye family elder’s body was brought back to Dragon Group headquarters under Xie Wei’s escort.
…
At the Su residence, in his room—
Su Yifan exhaled a slow breath.
After absorbing the spirit energy from five hundred spirit stones, he found that his Nascent Soul had only grown a bit more substantial, with little other change.
“These few spirit stones aren’t enough. I’ll need to gather more,” he mused. “But where should I find more of them?”
Rubbing his chin, Su Yifan pondered carefully.
Soon, someone came to mind. He quickly took out his phone and dialed a number.
“Son, son, it’s your father…” The moment the call connected, a tacky ringtone blared, making Su Yifan’s eyebrow twitch.
“Damn it, what a ridiculous ringtone!” he cursed.
Just then, the call was answered.
“Boss—oh, no, Young Master Su, is there something you’d like me to do?” came Crow’s obsequious voice.
Su Yifan didn’t bother with pleasantries. “I called to ask you something.”
“Please, ask anything, Young Master Su. I’ll tell you everything I know…”

“Shut up and listen,” Su Yifan barked.
Why was this guy so long-winded? He’d barely said a word, and the man had already launched into endless flattery.
“Yes, of course, Young Master Su. Go ahead,” Crow replied, instantly obedient at the icy tone.
Still, Crow couldn’t help but wonder. Weren’t all big bosses supposed to like sycophants? At least, his old bosses had always appreciated such groveling. Had he fallen behind the times?
Su Yifan asked, “Does the Hongxing Gang have any spirit stones?”
At the mention of spirit stones, Crow shook his head immediately. “No, we don’t.”
“Are you sure, or—” Su Yifan began.
Crow interrupted, “Young Master Su, I swear it’s true. Our Hongxing Gang truly has no spirit stones.”
“You’re the number one underground gang in Cloud City, and yet you don’t even have spirit stones?” Su Yifan was surprised.
Crow sighed. “Young Master Su, our gang may look impressive on the surface, but our actual strength isn’t much. Including myself, we only have five martial artists, and though I’m the strongest, I’ve just barely reached the peak of the dark energy stage. With that kind of power, forget possessing spirit stones—even if we had any, we couldn’t protect them!”
He would have liked to have some, but his strength simply didn’t allow for it.
Hearing this, Su Yifan felt a brief pang of sympathy for them. No wonder all they could do was run bars and collect protection fees. With real strength, who would care about such petty cash?
After some thought, Su Yifan asked, “Since you don’t have any, do you know who does?”
“Sorry, Young Master Su, I really don’t know,” Crow replied, frowning. With his limited strength, spirit stones were something he’d only heard of, never dared to covet. Because of that, he hadn’t paid attention to such matters.
Su Yifan sighed. “Forget it. If you don’t know, I’ll ask someone else.”
He was about to hang up when Crow’s urgent voice came through.
“Wait, Young Master Su!”
“What is it?” Su Yifan asked.
Crow hurriedly said, “Though I don’t know who has spirit stones, I can have my people look into it for you. We may not be able to help with major matters, but for something like asking around about spirit stones, we can definitely be of some assistance.”
