Chapter 113: A Massive Harvest (Bonus Chapter)
The Death-Bestowing Sword Qi is a double-edged sword, a technique that inflicts heavy damage on the enemy at the cost of one's own vitality. Chen Mo, however, felt no heartache at all. Even if his shadow clone perished, it was merely a clone; even if it didn't, it would vanish in ten seconds regardless.
Thus, the moment Chen Mo struck, he unleashed twelve layers of Death-Bestowing Sword Qi!
Given Chen Mo's current strength, he could normally only manifest three layers. Yet, in Slaughter Mode, his attack speed doubled, allowing him to push that to six layers. Coupled with the clone's ability to inherit Chen Mo’s S-rank "War God’s Fury" talent, his attack speed reached the absolute limit.
Twelve strikes in one second! Twelve layers of Death-Bestowing Sword Qi! The damage stacked twelvefold!
Had Chen Mo’s true body unleashed such a technique, he likely would have perished before his enemy, as a single layer consumed 500 health points—twelve layers meant 6,000. But the clone feared nothing; as long as the twelve layers were unleashed, its immediate disintegration was of no consequence.
Tian Xing could never have dreamed that his opponent’s power had reached such an exaggerated level, even manifesting a clone. It was said that one must reach the Demon rank to form a clone, yet there had been no reports of anyone on Earth reaching such a height. Seeing one before him, only two possibilities remained: either the opponent was truly a Demon-rank powerhouse, or he possessed special equipment or skills capable of creating a pseudo-clone.
Tian Xing felt the cold terror of death. Abandoning his Xing Tian Axe, he clenched his fists, threw his head back, and roared, "Ancestral Protection!"
*Clang!*
A resonant boom echoed. Behind Tian Xing, a semi-transparent golden statue manifested: the ancient War God, Xing Tian, headless, with his chest as eyes and navel as a mouth. Holding a shield in his left hand and an axe in his right, the faint figure shimmered, casting a golden barrier that shielded Tian Xing from harm.
Impressive! It was clear that Tian Xing had not founded the Xing Tian Guild and become the hegemon of the Northwest solely through his sinister and ruthless nature; his strength was equally formidable.
It was evident that both the Xing Tian Giant Axe and the Ancestral Protection were composed of semi-transparent energy, meaning Tian Xing’s skills were still incomplete, barely mastered. If the day ever came when these manifestations became fully corporeal, the power they would wield would be unimaginable.
Tian Xing felt immense confidence in his Ancestral Protection. He had obtained the Xing Tian Axe after his head was severed a thousand times by flying fish in a blood pool within the "Temple Run" hell-difficulty dungeon. This had triggered a hidden quest, leading him to an extra-dimensional space where, upon completion, he received the Xing Tian legacy, an A-rank piece of equipment, and a set of ancestral skills.
The Evolution Sphere had replicated the history and culture of Earth, creating countless quests and dungeons based on the myths and heroes of various nations, waiting for evolutionaries to trigger and explore them.
"Hmph! I don't believe you can break through my Ancestral Protection!" Tian Xing boasted.
Previously, when the White Cloud and Pale Dog organization sent a King-rank powerhouse to assault the Xing Tian Guild, Tian Xing had survived solely because of this protection. If even a King-rank could not break it, he did not believe this entry-level dungeon could!
Twelve layers of Death-Bestowing Sword Qi! Chen Mo directed his diamond clone to strike at Tian Xing’s neck.
*Bang!*
The first layer of Sword Qi collided with the golden barrier. It was blocked, triggering a violent surge of energy!
What?!
Chen Mo was surprised. Did the Death-Bestowing Sword Qi not ignore all shields to deal true damage? Why was this Ancestral Protection blocking it?
The Sword Qi did indeed ignore shields, but this was the shield of the War God, Xing Tian. Even if it was not the true descent of the deity, the Ancestral Protection contained a sliver of Xing Tian’s divine consciousness. The Sword Qi, merely a wisp of dark energy from a hellish demon, could not compare to the War God.
"Hahaha!" Tian Xing regained his confidence. "I told you, no one can break my ancestral shield!"
*Bang!*
The second layer struck the same spot. The damage stacked, carving a fissure into the golden barrier.
Then, the third, fourth, and fifth layers all struck the exact same point. The power compounded, turning the tiny fissure into a visible crack that widened into a gap!
The sixth, seventh, and eighth layers poured salt into the wound, turning the small gap into a massive breach!
By the ninth, tenth, and eleventh layers, the entire ancestral shield was covered in terrifying fractures.
The twelfth layer was the final straw that broke the camel's back, shattering the shield entirely!
*Crackle!*
With a crisp sound, the shield disintegrated!
All of this occurred in the blink of an eye—within a single second!
It was over. Tian Xing’s expression shifted from arrogance to despair in that fleeting moment.
He knew he was finished; he was going to die here. However, after unleashing the twelve layers, the mirror clone shattered, and the Annihilation set automatically returned to Chen Mo’s storage space.
"Huh? I'm not dead?!" Tian Xing felt a sudden reprieve. "Kid, I'll spare you this time! Don't let me see you again!"
As he spat out his threat and prepared to flee, he did not expect that Chen Mo had been waiting. The Annihilation Demon Sword slashed through the air; a ball of black flame roared forward, morphing into chains that bound Tian Xing tight.
Having lost both his Xing Tian Axe and his Ancestral Protection, Tian Xing possessed almost no combat power and was held fast by the chains of dark fire.
Disheveled and humiliated, Tian Xing roared, "You little animal! If you have the guts, kill me now! Once my energy recovers, I will tear you into a thousand pieces!"
Chen Mo couldn't help but retort, "Hey, did you fail your literature classes as a kid? You keep repeating the same two phrases—'tear into a thousand pieces'—can’t you find a different word?"
"You..." Tian Xing had indeed dropped out of middle school to brawl in the streets. Having his sore spot touched, he was so furious his internal organs felt as if they were about to explode.
Chen Mo was in no rush to kill him. He wanted to provoke Tian Xing into activating his Slaughter Mode; if he killed him then, he could claim Tian Xing’s wisdom seed. If he could obtain the Xing Tian Axe and the set of ancestral skills, he would truly be invincible.
Chen Mo began to unbuckle his belt.
Tian Xing had felt no fear of death—it was far too common in the dungeons, and he had lost count of how many times he had died. But seeing Chen Mo begin to unbutton his trousers, he truly panicked!
A series of graphic and violent images flashed through his mind. His face turned ashen, his body trembled, and his voice shook. He was finally, truly terrified.
"No! You—you, don't come over here! What are you doing?! You, you, stay away!"
