Chapter 110: Mission Items (Additional Update)
Near the red dot lay a forest of stone, where giant boulders ranging from ten to twenty meters high were scattered haphazardly across the grassland, looking like pebbles tossed aside by an angry god.
Chen Mo slowed his pace, holding his breath and focusing his senses. He crept toward the red dot, concealing himself behind a massive stone.
Peering past the red dot, he was stunned—the sight was enough to terrify the soul.
The space enclosed by the boulders was packed with players. It was immediately obvious: one group had another completely surrounded!
Chen Mo squinted, then realized, "Wait, isn't that the Xingtian Guild?"
The group they had cornered was none other than the Nirvana Phoenix, led by Liu Zijun.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk," Chen Mo mused. "I really do have a knack for running into this Liu Zijun."
The Xingtian Guild was truly formidable. Their thirty members, excluding their leader Tian Xing, had all activated "Slaughter Mode." Above their heads hovered the blood-red letters: "Slaughterer." Looking at the sea of red names, any other player would have turned and fled at the mere sight of such a formation.
But Chen Mo was ecstatic; he barely managed to stifle a laugh.
Points! Points! These were all just points!
Equipment! Equipment! The ground was practically paved with gear!
And Intel-Z! Most importantly, Intel-Z!
Chen Mo suppressed the urge to charge out. Leaving aside whether he could wipe out the entire Xingtian Guild alone, there was no need to be so reckless. It would be far more comfortable to stay hidden behind the boulders, firing cold arrows while Xingtian and Nirvana Phoenix tore each other apart. *Hehehe.*
"Liu Zijun, those who know the times are wise! Your Nirvana Phoenix's Right Guardian has already agreed to cooperate with our Xingtian Guild. Now only your consent is missing; why go against the will of the people?" Tian Xing, the leader of Xingtian, said with a smirk.
"To hell with the will of the people! Qin Yu is a traitor who colluded with outsiders. I will personally kick her out of Nirvana Phoenix sooner or later!" Liu Zijun replied coldly.
Tian Xing’s smile froze, and he snapped, "Liu Zijun! My patience is limited! Don't be ungrateful. I’ll give you one more minute to consider. If you remain this stubborn, see my Slaughterers? I will slaughter every last one of your Nirvana Phoenix members, clear your points to zero, loot all your gear, and ensure that in every dungeon you enter from now on, my people will hunt you down until you have absolutely nothing left!"
Liu Zijun drew two short swords, bracing for combat. "Then come and get me!"
Tian Xing shook his head. "Liu Zijun, you truly disappoint me. Kill them all!"
"Yes, Boss!" The twenty-nine Slaughterers of Xingtian were already itching to move.
In terms of raw strength, the members of Xingtian were on par with Nirvana Phoenix—both mostly at the peak of the Soldier rank or the early stage of the General rank. But once Slaughter Mode was activated, it was a different story: a peak Soldier-ranker gained the power of a high-level General, and an early General-ranker surged to the peak of their tier. Their strength was overwhelming.
Liu Zijun had issued a strict order: no one was to activate Slaughter Mode. Dying in a dungeon just meant respawning, but activating Slaughter Mode meant permanent death. The members of Nirvana Phoenix were hard-won, and with the Shadow Legion of Star City currently conducting massive sweeps, the guild desperately needed its people; they could not afford any more permanent losses.
"Goddess’s Light!" Liu Zijun activated her buff skill, increasing the attack power of all nearby teammates by 20%. It narrowed the gap slightly, but the disparity remained vast.
This was the first time Chen Mo had watched Evolvers fight in a group. He saw Xingtian's front-line tanks move to the fore, shielding the guild from Nirvana Phoenix's magical attacks.
*Boom-whir! Boom-whir! Boom-whir!*
The tanks activated their shields, taking the magical barrages head-on with their own bodies!
Liu Zijun commanded, "Melee units, charge! Break through their tank line! Mages, control your spells to flank around the shields!"
"Charge!"
Although Nirvana Phoenix’s shock troops lacked the powerful combination skills of the Shadow Legion’s Shadow Swords, their long-term field experience and training gave them their own unified charge maneuver.
The high-level warriors utilized the "Dual Slash," forming three-man squads that attacked high, middle, and low to seal off all angles. This approach prevented friendly fire while allowing them to strike the enemy from multiple directions.
"Haha! Naive! Cheng Lie, show them what we’re made of!" Tian Xing remained in the back, directing the battle rather than engaging personally.
"Understood, Boss!" Cheng Lie, the captain of Tian Xing's vanguard and Tian Xing’s right-hand man, shouted.
Cheng Lie raised a greatsword wreathed in flames and roared, "Split the heavy shields!"
The first line of tanks, well-drilled, stepped forward and staggered their formation. A gap appeared between every two men, and Cheng Lie led his Flame-Sword Vanguard straight through!
The Flame-Sword Vanguard were all equipped with greatswords burning with fire. These were standard D-grade high-quality swords, enchanted by a magical genius blacksmith within the Xingtian Guild.
Nirvana Phoenix had intended to break the front line, never expecting the enemy to split their formation and launch a vanguard counter-attack.
The Xingtian vanguard had a massive advantage with their fire weapons, compounded by their Slaughter Mode. The outcome was clear: after one exchange, three of Nirvana Phoenix’s vanguard warriors were hacked to death.
*Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!*
Equipment spilled across the ground, and the remaining Nirvana Phoenix warriors scrambled back.
The Xingtian vanguard tried to pursue, but were forced back by bursts of flame and lightning, retreating behind their tanks.
Chen Mo watched from the side, his blood boiling. *Is this... is this what war is like?*
Even with only thirty people on each side, the sight was enough to make Chen Mo’s heart race. It was incredibly intense!
This was the battlefield he had fantasized about since childhood—commanding an army, charging into the fray! It was every man’s dream.
But this was not the time for Chen Mo to indulge in daydreams. Nirvana Phoenix was clearly failing. If he waited until Xingtian slaughtered them all, it would be much harder to deal with the players who were all running in Slaughter Mode. Chen Mo decided to act.
Tian Xing taunted, "Liu Zijun! Look! This is the price of not cooperating with me! Hahaha!"
A vanguard warrior from Nirvana Phoenix, incensed, shouted, "Left Guardian! Are we really going to let them kill us one by one?! If we all activate Slaughter Mode, we still have a chance!"
Liu Zijun said sternly, "Zhang Yang, I repeat: no one is to activate Slaughter Mode! Do you hear me?"
The warrior snapped, "I said it before—a woman shouldn't be in command! You want to be cowards? I don't! I'm not a coward!"
*Hum—*
A crimson light descended upon the warrior, and the blood-red title "Slaughterer" appeared above his head.
"Hahaha! Power! Such incredible power! Brothers! Slaughter Mode is truly amazing. I feel invincible! Since you're all so afraid, let me show you the true might of a Slaughterer!"
"Leaping Slash!"
Zhang Yang leapt high into the air, reaching fifty meters—he usually only managed thirty. He felt invincible. He locked onto Tian Xing, the leader of Xingtian, and swung his greatsword. "Triple Slash!"
Under the influence of Slaughter Mode, Zhang Yang’s blade blurred into five phantoms, their power layering upon one another.
"Fivefold Fatal Slash! Die!"
*Hahahaha!* Zhang Yang savored the immense power in his strike, imagining the shock on everyone's faces when he killed the enemy commander.
