Chapter 109: The Scheme Runs Deep
Dong Ci thought that, given their teacher’s temperament, he would surely slaughter her entire family!
Da Ci believed that the teacher would likely forgive her family, guide her with kindness, urging her to turn back from the brink, only for the teacher to collapse in despair and take his own life.
The group returned to the first floor, where everyone’s eyes widened in astonishment—none of them had been lost; they had all made it up together.
“Young master, we have arranged the finest rooms for your rest. The airship bound for Ankang Continent will depart before nightfall. The journey will take five days. We wish you a pleasant trip,” said the maid politely. Ye Kun thought that since waiting outside was just waiting, it would be better to rest. After three days of sleeping outdoors, even his beloved wife was losing her appeal.
Led by the maid, Ye Kun and the others finally had the chance to wash away the dust clinging to them.
Due to the room arrangements, Yuan Zhen and Feng Dian had to share a space, and so did Dong Ci and Da Ci.
Ye Kun watched Dong Ci and Da Ci enter their room with a hint of concern. Their teacher’s final relationship was a deadly mix of love and hate; he wondered if they would end up the same way.
“I’m going to take a bath first~” Yan Mu’er immediately dashed into the bathroom. As a cat demon, she was exceptionally fond of cleanliness.
Ye Li didn’t bother competing with Yan Mu’er. “Husband, have a seat. I’ll massage your shoulders.”
With Yan Mu’er absent, she could properly pamper her husband.
“Good.”
Enjoying his wives’ affection, Ye Kun felt lucky to have married these two.
“Husband, once we arrive at Ankang Continent, what are our plans?” Ye Li asked, wanting to know Ye Kun’s intentions, at least to have some peace of mind.
Ye Kun slowly closed his eyes and murmured, “The first thing upon arriving at Ankang Continent is to find Ba Wanqing.”
“Ba Wanqing? Who is that?” Ye Li asked warily. Could she be the bald one’s secret crush? If so, Yan Mu’er and she would have to assassinate this woman!
“She almost became my sister-in-law, but unfortunately, she dumped my brother and married someone else on the day of our wedding.” Although his brother didn’t want him involved, Ye Kun felt the need to settle this grievance himself.
“Ah! No wonder my brother wears a green jade hairpin—it’s a form of self-flagellation.” Ye Li had been puzzled why anyone would wear a green ornament on their head, but now it made sense.
Ye Kun shook his head and sighed, “It was their mother who gave it to him.”
“Oh, mother’s intentions are profound. My brother is truly pitiful. Husband, I support you!” Ye Li meant it sincerely, not just flattering; she disliked fickle women who were quick to change their affections.
Ye Kun patted the back of Ye Li’s hand, “Those are kind words.”
“Then, husband, who do you think is more obedient—your Ye Li or little sister Mu’er?”
Ye Kun’s expression darkened. According to his father’s standards, that was a question of life and death.
“Ye Li, do you still have those little bugs on you?”
“Husband, you’re really good at changing the subject, hmph~”
“I don’t know why, but I just like it when you get angry. It’s too adorable.”
Ye Li was speechless.
No wonder the bald one’s mind worked so differently from normal people.
As the sun gradually set, five massive airships nearby had already begun boarding.
They departed before nightfall so that they could arrive at dawn and have time to clean the rooms and prepare.
Ye Kun led the group aboard the airship.
Ten long staircases stretched deep within the vessel, and beneath them yawned an abyss of unfathomable depth. For ordinary people, this would be a memorable experience.
The airship floated suspended in the void. Ye Kun was curious about how such a gigantic vessel could stay aloft.
Holding his two trembling wives closely, Ye Kun sighed helplessly. Girls were afraid of heights, after all, and had nestled into his arms out of fright.
Yan Mu’er and Ye Li’s performance was convincing; it took some skill to feign such terror.
But Yuan Zhen and Feng Dian were genuine—two good brothers holding hands.
As for Dong Ci and Da Ci, their expressions were peculiar; who could tell what thoughts they were exchanging?
Inside the airship, Ye Kun was stunned by the spectacle before him.
It was truly breathtaking.
All the rooms were built around the edge, encircling the perimeter, while the center of the vessel was hollow. A strange aura rose from the base. Though he didn’t understand what it was, Ye Kun suspected it was the key to the airship’s levitation.
The bottom tier was third class, the most ordinary accommodations.
Above that was second class, where Ye Kun and his party were lodged.
Above that was first class.
Ordinary people wouldn’t typically buy first-class tickets unless they had coin to burn. Yet Ye Kun noticed many headed there.
He even spotted a familiar figure.
Yue Zhu.
Of course, he would run into her here.
Yue Zhu looked down at Ye Kun, her smile gone.
Ye Kun pursed his lips—what a petty woman. Much better to have one’s own wife.
“Husband, Mu’er is so hungry~” Yan Mu’er said plaintively, her blue eyes soft as water gazed at Ye Kun. She knew exactly how to tease him, causing a little stir within him.
Since arriving at the airship dock, Ye Kun and the others hadn’t eaten. No food was prepared at the dock; only the airship served meals. So no matter how hungry they were, they had to wait.
“Let’s find our rooms first,” Ye Kun said. Everyone obeyed immediately. After some inquiries, they quickly located their rooms.
Except for Ye Kun and his two wives sharing one, everyone else had separate accommodations.
Ye Kun noticed Dong Ci and Da Ci sighing—were they displeased with the room assignments? Did they want to stay together?
Entering his room, Ye Kun found it spacious. Though constructed entirely of wood, the masterful design gave it a unique charm, and the faint scent of timber filled the air.
Yan Mu’er pushed open two windows and exclaimed, “So beautiful~ Husband, come quickly~”
Ye Kun stood behind her as she wrapped her arms around him, sweetly whispering, “Look, isn’t it beautiful?”
Ye Li rolled her eyes behind them, clearly thinking Yan Mu’er was being overly obvious, taking advantage of her husband.
Yan Mu’er wasn’t wrong—the view was magnificent. Due to the altitude, the moonlight gently bathed the earth below, revealing the contours of endless mountain ranges.
Third-class rooms didn’t have such views; they were small and enclosed.
This design was meant to emphasize the superiority of second-class rooms, much less first class.
Curious, Ye Li picked up a book on the table and flipped through it, quickly growing speechless.
“Husband, look at this.”
Ye Kun released the charming Yan Mu’er, who gave Ye Li a sharp look, warning her to stop stirring trouble.
Seeing the book in Ye Li’s hands, Ye Kun covered his forehead. It was all a setup!
This airship dock was a trap!
They had been starved all day, told food was only available aboard, and indeed there was food—but the prices were more than ten times higher than outside!
One gold coin could buy four steamed buns!
