Chapter 120: Building Wealth and Living in Splendor (Third Update)
This brought the two wives to set aside their grudges and start discussing strategies on how to defeat my brother Kun.
A good thought, but reality is harsh. The truth is, even if you two combined your efforts, you still wouldn’t be a match for my brother Kun.
“Finally arrived…” Ye Kun exhaled deeply, gazing at the vast capital city before him. Aside from Taijing, Ankang Continent’s capital was the second largest city. Even standing on the flying vessel, he couldn’t take in the entire view.
Compared to Taixi County, this was likely just a small corner of Ankang Continent.
“Husband~” The two wives stood beside him, calling out sweetly.
Good heavens, they were so clingy.
“We’ve been down for five days now, and we’re almost there. We should get ready,” Ye Kun said.
“All right,” Yan Mu’er and Ye Li replied helplessly. No matter how they thought about making their husband uncomfortable, in the end, they made themselves uncomfortable instead.
Not far from Ankang Continent, at the mountaintop, was the flying vessel docking point. As the continent’s second largest city, population flow was tremendous.
Right now, Ye Kun and his companions were nearly crushed by the crowd, but Kun held one wife in each arm to ensure they wouldn’t be at a disadvantage.
“There are so many people,” Yuan Zhen sighed, looking at the crowded path down the mountain.
Feng Dian frowned, “I’ve never seen such a crowd. I wish half of them would disappear.”
“Well, you’d definitely be in that half,” Yan Mu’er teased, holding tightly onto Ye Kun’s arm.
“Sister-in-law Kun~”
Yuan Zhen laughed heartily, “Yuan Zhen here, my coaxing skills have improved.”
“Yuan Zhen! Are you looking for a fight?”
“Alright, alright, once we get into the academy, fight all you want,” Ye Kun chuckled. He was looking forward to academy life; surely many interesting things would happen.
Ye Kun glanced up at the flying vessel. Fortunately, the Ninth Prince hadn’t appeared, which eased his tension somewhat.
It took them an hour to descend the mountain, mainly due to the crowd.
At the foot of the mountain, carriages lined up—after all, it was still half a day’s journey to Ankang Continent, and taking a carriage was the most comfortable option.
Unfortunately, they still had to walk.
It was truly difficult.
“Brother, even at the foot of the mountain, it feels livelier than our Taixi County,” Ye Qin observed curiously.
“Of course. This is Ankang Continent.”
At that moment, a familiar voice rang out:
“Sell your way to wealth, glory, and fortune!”
For some reason, hearing “get rich” piqued Ye Kun’s interest. And to think it could be sold like this—what a crude scam.
The voice sounded so familiar.
Ye Kun glanced at his younger brother; they both felt the same.
Following the voice, Ye Kun and Ye Qin spotted a man squatting under a nearby eave. Surrounding him were outsiders, all drawn by his promise of wealth.
“Brother! It’s him!”
“I never thought this shopkeeper would stoop to scamming,” Ye Kun muttered in disbelief. “Isn’t he the owner of the Sword Book Shop in Taixi County? He owed a lot of rent and just ran away…”
And now he had ended up here.
The shopkeeper noticed the unusual gazes and looked up. The shining bald head was somewhat dazzling.
That bald head!!!
It brought back painful memories—the demon of the Ye family…
“Shopkeeper, long time no see,” they greeted warmly, feeling an instant kinship in a foreign land.
The shopkeeper took a deep breath and asked curiously, “Who are you?”
Seriously? Pretending not to know them?
After all, they had met before. This was a bit much.
“Shopkeeper, we want to buy your ‘get rich’ scheme,” Ye Qin said softly. After stepping off the flying vessel, he was unusually nervous. Surely, Ba Wanqing lived somewhere within this vast Ankang Continent.
The shopkeeper couldn’t have forgotten Ye Qin; don’t think growing hair would make you unrecognizable.
“Shopkeeper, are you selling or not?”
“Yeah, we’re in a hurry to get somewhere.”
“Stop teasing us. Hurry up.”
The crowd grew impatient, shouting.
The shopkeeper smiled and said, “Apologies, everyone. My ‘get rich’ method is different from others, but if you use the method correctly, you’ll enjoy lifelong fortune.”
Ye Kun was intrigued—what exactly was he selling? Could a single book really lead to wealth?
The shopkeeper opened a book excitedly and said, “Look! This book contains famous women from Ankang Continent—all widows with vast fortunes. I even provide their addresses. Choose the right target and learn the method; you can save yourself a lifetime of struggle.”
Ye Kun was speechless.
The crowd was silent.
Ye Kun thought this was utterly absurd.
But some saw it as a real opportunity.
“Shopkeeper, how much for the book?”
“Brother, it’s not about selling the book. I sell information. Of course, I also offer paid training. For different targets, I create customized plans, boosting success rates by fifty percent!”
“I’m signing up!”
“Me too!”
“Count me in!”
Suddenly, the crowd erupted in excitement. Everyone came to Ankang Continent to get rich and honor their ancestors. To stumble upon such an opportunity right after disembarking felt like divine favor.
“Don’t rush, don’t rush. Take your time,” the shopkeeper said gleefully. This was far more profitable than running a shop.
Ye Li and Yan Mu’er were speechless, quickly pulling Ye Kun away to avoid these unhealthy influences.
Ye Kun wanted to say a few words to the shopkeeper. Now that he was making money, he should pay his rent.
Though this career jump was rather abrupt.
He wondered what Master Wu Chi was doing now. He had suddenly left Taixi County years ago, and no news had come since.
He worried that Master Wu Chi might have drowned his sorrows in some forgotten corner.
Ankang Continent was vast, stretching tens of thousands of zhang in every direction. Even the city walls rose hundreds of zhang high.
To put that in perspective, Ye Kun could see the city walls from afar. The entire structure was made of iron, its dark surface exuding a deadly aura. Guards stood every ten zhang along the walls, vigilantly watching below.
It was said that walking from the East Market to the West Market inside Ankang Continent took several days on foot; riding a horse was slightly quicker.
Ye Kun noticed his younger brother acting strangely, aware they were about to see Ba Wanqing. His heart was conflicted, uncertain of her current state.
But Ye Kun believed a woman who had changed her heart was capable of anything.
The group followed the crowd toward the magnificent Ankang Continent.
The West City Gate was the entrance from the flying vessel, designed to prevent excessive crowding.
Yet even so, the gate was now unbearably congested.
“Line up! I’ll say it once more! Line up!” the captain of the guards barked angrily.
The crowd was mostly composed of people from other counties and didn’t understand the rules.
The captain muttered to himself, “A bunch of ignorant fools. Ankang Continent isn’t a place for the likes of you! One month from now, all of you will be sent back to your hometowns!”
