Deputy General Manager Wang smiled broadly as he introduced, “This is our company’s new boss, President Meng.”

Su Wan lowered her head, lost in thought.

Having met this man three times now, and now he had become her boss—this fate was truly strange.

As they spoke, President Meng had already approached.

Her heart fluttered nervously. Seeing that he showed no intention of leaving immediately, she reluctantly raised her head.

Their eyes met—his were deep and enigmatic.

A faint smile played on his lips, ambiguous and unreadable.

Suddenly recalling the moment their lips had touched that day, Su Wan blushed deeply.

Summoning her courage, she called out, “President Meng.”

Meng Yanchen asked calmly, “What’s your name?”

“Su Wan.”

“Be my assistant.”

Su Wan was bewildered.

Why was he suddenly asking her to be his assistant? Had he recognized her?

But that couldn’t be—it seemed he hadn’t opened his eyes even once that day.

Or perhaps it was because she had pressed the elevator button for him?

“All right, President Meng, I will have HR arrange the transfer immediately.”

With the boss’s order, Deputy General Manager Wang naturally obeyed without question.

Su Wan panicked. “Deputy General Manager Wang, this isn’t appropriate. I’m a designer…”

Deputy General Manager Wang turned angrily to the Design Director. “Director Zhou, how do you manage your team with such disobedience?”

Director Zhou was a middle-aged woman, quite kind, and usually took good care of Su Wan.

She quickly gave Su Wan a meaningful look. “Don’t worry, Deputy General Manager Wang, I will speak with her later.”

Su Wan wanted to protest, but Han Wei tugged at her sleeve, signaling her to hold back.

After the meeting.

Han Wei looked puzzled. “Su Wan, being the big boss’s assistant is something many dream of. And you actually refused?”

Su Wan frowned. “I just want to be a designer. I really have no interest in being an assistant.”

Someone nearby whispered, “I think she’s just pretending. Who wouldn’t want that position?”

“Exactly. She must be dreaming of such a good opportunity, yet she’s pretending to refuse.”

“Do you think she has some special relationship with the boss? Could it be…”

Someone was snickering quietly.

“Hey, stop spreading rumors. You’re all in the same office. Isn’t this going too far?”

True to a best friend’s nature, Han Wei immediately stood up for her.

“Han Wei’s right. Su Wan has helped you all plenty of times. And now you gossip behind her back? Shame on you. Let’s get back to work…”

Director Zhou scolded them sharply. Once everyone dispersed, she turned to talk with Su Wan.

“Su Wan, since President Meng has specifically requested you, you should comply. Being his assistant won’t come with a low salary…”

Director Zhou knew Su Wan’s family situation well and understood how much she needed the money.

Su Wan was about to respond when Deputy General Manager Wang hurried over.

“Hurry up, Su Wan. President Meng wants to speak with you personally.”

Director Zhou urged, “No matter what, have a good talk.”

This young woman had only worked a year, with limited experience, so she couldn’t help but worry.

In her heart, she liked Su Wan very much.

The girl was gentle, diligent, and showed great talent in design.

Her works were outstanding and well received by clients.

Most importantly, she was helpful; whenever other designers faced difficulties, she was always willing to assist.

At the President’s Office.

Su Wan knocked on the door.

A deep voice called, “Come in.”

She pushed the door open.

Meng Yanchen stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, his tall and upright silhouette strangely captivating.

Sunlight bathed him, as if he were glowing.

It was truly a beautiful sight.

“President Meng.”

Meng Yanchen turned, holding a cup of coffee.

He slowly approached and handed her the cup. “Make me a fresh one…”

Her delicate fingers brushed his hand.

She felt as if struck by electricity; her hand trembled, and coffee splashed onto his chest!

“Ah, I’m so sorry…” Su Wan hurried to apologize.

Meng Yanchen frowned slightly, narrowing his eyes at her. “Why such a big reaction?”

Su Wan was speechless.

She knew it was her fault.

Because she kept recalling that day’s incident, she felt flustered whenever facing this man.

“Sorry, President Meng. Let me wipe it off for you…”

Without overthinking, she grabbed some tissue to clean.

Her hand touched his firm chest, instantly recalling the perfect eight-pack abs she had seen that day. A blush quickly warmed her fair cheeks.

Meng Yanchen’s gaze darkened.

Girls who deliberately created chances to catch his attention were not new to him.

He grasped her wrist, voice cold. “Look, I want you to be my assistant. Don’t get any other ideas…”

This girl wasn’t as innocent as she seemed.

Claiming she didn’t want to be his assistant was probably a feint.

Su Wan blinked in surprise.

“What ideas?”

He squinted. “Don’t you know yourself?”

“I don’t know,” Su Wan thought his words were strange.

Meng Yanchen’s deep eyes locked onto her pretty face, a faint curve forming on his lips.

“If you really have other intentions, I advise you to give up quickly…”

Su Wan felt awkward. “President Meng, you’re mistaken. I have no other thoughts about you at all. I’m only here to tell you I want to be a designer…”

Meng Yanchen was momentarily stunned.

“You really don’t want to be my assistant?”

“Really don’t.”

He stared at her for a few seconds, then returned to his seat.

His knuckles lightly tapped the table. After a moment’s thought, he spoke slowly.

“No matter what you think, since I’ve made my decision, you have no choice but to obey.”

Su Wan frowned deeply.

Bosses were always so domineering, never listening to others’ opinions. Why bother asking at all?

The man spoke again softly, “Go make the coffee now.”

Su Wan knitted her brows. “President Meng, I haven’t agreed to be your assistant yet.”

He raised an eyebrow, a slight smirk on his lips. “Oh? You really think I’d give you a choice?”

Su Wan was speechless.

The meaning was clear: If you don’t want it, then get lost!

Suddenly, she thought of her troublesome home.

She hoped to save more money and move away from there. If she searched for a new job, it would waste time.

Besides, the next boss might be even stranger.

Maybe she should just tell him about saving his life?

Then he wouldn’t force her, his lifesaver, so harshly.

“Um, President Meng…”

His phone rang, and he stepped aside to answer.

“Engagement? Mom, isn’t that too soon?” He paused thoughtfully. “Fine, let’s settle it then.”

After the call, he returned and asked calmly, “What were you about to say?”

Su Wan hesitated.

She had no proof of saving his life. Would he believe her?

What if he thought she was after his money?

Besides, he was busy with engagement matters now. She shouldn’t cause trouble.

Having considered this, Su Wan forced a professional smile. “Okay, President Meng. What kind of coffee would you like?”

“Less sugar, less milk… Ah, forget it, just go buy it downstairs…”

“Got it.”

After stepping out, Su Wan took a deep breath.

Thinking it over, this guy wasn’t any harder to please than her family. Besides, he was her boss, and she still got paid to work for him.

With that in mind, she felt much better.

Han Wei waited anxiously outside the door.

“So, did he give you a hard time?”

“Still alive for now.”

But facing such a difficult boss, Su Wan really feared she might not endure.

After work, back home.

The living room was bustling with family.

Su Mei wore a beautiful dress and spun around excitedly.

Seeing her about to go upstairs, Su Mei proudly said, “Guess what? I’m marrying into a wealthy family…”

Su Wan was speechless.

This girl must be crazy about becoming a rich wife.
