Seeing the terrifying prowess of Bai Xuehua, Xiao Yun'er felt a secret tremor of awe in his heart. He wondered how she had achieved such mastery and doubted if he could ever attain such formidable skills himself.

Bai Xuehua held Xiao Yun'er’s hand with one of hers while gripping a sword with the other, leading him toward the woods. Although he knew of her great strength, he could not suppress his fear, and he clung tightly to her side. As they neared the spot where he had encountered the Blood Fiend of Life-Snatching, Xiao Yun'er grew increasingly tense. Sensing his hand trembling, Bai Xuehua comforted him, "Do not be afraid, Yun'er. Your sister is here."

Soon, they arrived at the place where Xiao Yun'er had discovered the corpse. After examining the cause of death, Bai Xuehua warned him, "Yun'er, you must not leave my side for even a moment."

Xiao Yun'er nodded, wishing he could wrap his arms around her neck and hide within her embrace. As she kept a watchful eye, Bai Xuehua listened intently to the surroundings. With the keen senses of an expert, she suddenly whispered, "The old monster is coming."

Xiao Yun'er listened to the deathly silence around them and asked in surprise, "Sister Xue, how do you know?"

"I can sense his aura nearby," she replied in a low voice.

As she spoke, she gently pulled Xiao Yun'er behind her, her grip tightening on her sword. She rarely used a blade, preferring the jade flute she usually carried. However, after the battle at Mount Shouyang, she realized that a sword was the most effective weapon against her enemies, so she had brought one this time.

Xiao Yun'er understood that she was preparing to face the monster, and he felt a mix of tension and excitement. Sure enough, a rustling sound emerged from the front. Xiao Yun'er caught sight of the Blood Fiend's emerald-green eyes flashing with malevolence as he approached.

The Blood Fiend spotted them as well. Upon recognizing Xiao Yun'er, he let out a grotesque laugh. "Little brat, you escaped with your life earlier, and yet you dare to return? Do you truly not believe I will devour you?" He then glanced at Bai Xuehua and added, "This woman is stunning, much like the last one. You have quite the fortune, boy, to be favored by two such beauties."

Xiao Yun'er retorted with a laugh, "Old monster, the one from before was my wife, and this is my sister. I told you I come from a powerful background. You bullied me, and now my sister is going to teach you a lesson."

The Blood Fiend, having already suppressed his rage during his encounter with Long Lengyue, erupted in fury at Xiao Yun'er’s provocation. "Little girl, you are most unfortunate to have crossed paths with me. Had it been my junior brother, he might have spared your life for the sake of your beauty, perhaps choosing to toy with you instead. But I—"

He stopped mid-sentence as Bai Xuehua launched her attack. By the time she paused, the Blood Fiend had already rolled deep into the thicket. Had she chosen to break away from Xiao Yun'er to pursue him, she surely could have finished him off. However, because Xiao Yun'er was terrified of the wolves lurking nearby, she chose not to abandon him, letting the monster escape. Though he only lost a hand, it was a fitting punishment.

Seeing that she had stopped, Xiao Yun'er quickly pressed himself into her arms and whispered, "I am afraid of the wolves!"

Seeing a wolf staring at them from a distance, Bai Xuehua’s eyes flashed with annoyance. She hurled her short sword at the beast; with a pained howl, the wolf collapsed and died.

"Do not worry, Yun'er," she said softly. "I have killed the wolf."

"Really?" Xiao Yun'er asked joyfully.

"Of course," she smiled. "You can go and see for yourself if you don't believe me."

Though he saw the beast lying motionless, Xiao Yun'er dared not approach, fearing it might be playing dead to pounce on him. Bai Xuehua pulled him toward the carcass and retrieved her blade. Watching how easily she had slain the beast—and remembering how she had severed the Blood Fiend's hand with a single strike—he exclaimed, "Sister Xue, you are truly incredible! Never leave me, and then I will have nothing to fear. Also, you must teach me your skills so that I, too, can become a master!"

In that moment, Xiao Yun'er completely forgot the hardships of martial arts training he had endured in the past.
