Chapter Sixty-Three: Xu Shiyun, the Fairy of Wisdom
“Start a company?”
The five girls in the dormitory stared at Jiang Xue, wide-eyed.
“Yes, start a travel company, specializing in the ‘Fish Head Village’ route. Who among you is interested in joining me?” Jiang Xue said seriously.
A travel company?
Jiang Xue’s proposal was refreshing. They had just returned from Fish Head Village today, so they had a bit of understanding about the place. Besides, thanks to the influence of ‘Miss Xiaoyue,’ Fish Head Village had become an internet sensation, and there must be plenty of people eager to go and experience it for themselves.
If they started a travel company and partnered with Fish Head Village, there was definitely a promising future in it.
“I’m in, I’m in! Third Sister, I’ll join you!” Yang Sha, the youngest, raised her hand and was the first to speak up.
Jiang Xue wasn’t short on money, but starting a travel company required manpower. She needed people. To get the business off the ground quickly, the company couldn’t be understaffed.
“What about the rest of you?” Jiang Xue looked at the other girls in the dorm.
“I have no objections!” Zhang Xinxin, the oldest, raised her hand next.
Then Du Fangfang and Geng Nannan, the fourth and fifth, also raised their hands without hesitation.
Their dorm, also known as the ‘Fairy Dorm,’ housed two ‘fairies’: the captivating ‘Enchantress Fairy’ Jiang Xue, and the brilliant ‘Wise Fairy’ Xu Shiyun.
Xu Shiyun wasn’t a stunning beauty, but she was exceptionally attractive in her own way. At first glance, she seemed ordinary; by the second, she was intriguing; by the third, astonishing—a remarkable woman who grew more enchanting the more you paid attention to her.
Moreover, Xu Shiyun’s nickname as the ‘Wise Fairy’ spoke to her intellect. Rumor had it her IQ exceeded 200; by second grade, she had already self-studied all university coursework. If she wished, she could easily obtain doctorates from several top universities at home and abroad.
As for why she was in a third-tier city, attending an ordinary college, that remained a mystery. No one but herself could explain it.
In terms of wealth, no one in the dorm matched Xu Shiyun; she reportedly earned over a hundred thousand a week trading stocks, though the actual amount was unknown.
Xu Shiyun was a walking enigma, like a legend who had grown weary of the ‘rivers and lakes’ and retired to live quietly among ordinary people.
She had gone on the Fish Head Village trip as well, but hadn’t attracted much attention.
“Why are you all staring at me?” Xu Shiyun lazily reclined on her bunk.
Jiang Xue looked at her, asking seriously, “You’re the last one. Are you in?”
“Sounds like we’re joining Mount Liang!” Xu Shiyun muttered under her breath, sat up, and lazily asked, “Can I say no?”
Jiang Xue shook her head with a smile, “Absolutely not!”
“…” Xu Shiyun was speechless. If it’s not allowed, what’s the point of asking? “If you want to play, then let’s play together.”
She paused briefly and then added calmly, “Family or not, accounts must be clear. You proposed the company, you established ties with Fish Head Village, so you should take the largest share. The five of us will invest our labor, each holding five percent of the company. You contribute three hundred thousand and take seventy-five percent. I doubt anyone has any objections?”
It was a conversation Jiang Xue found hard to bring up, but Xu Shiyun said it for her. They were all good friends; it was best to settle the financials now to avoid unpleasantness later.
Once everyone nodded, Jiang Xue said, “Good, it’s settled then.”
“Miss Xiaoyue is trending online; how should we ride this wave of popularity?” Jiang Xue cut straight to the point, looking at Xu Shiyun.
Xu Shiyun looked back as if to say, ‘You’re asking me?’
Jiang Xue chuckled, “From now on, you’re the company’s deputy president—no, the general manager, executive director, CEO. Even I will follow your lead, so, Director Xu, won’t you put your nimble mind to work and lead your little fangirls into action?”
She didn’t hold back, placing Xu Shiyun in charge. It would be a waste not to use such a brilliant mind.
Xu Shiyun knew she couldn’t escape. She stood up from her bunk, resigned, “Let’s go then.”
“Where to?” Yang Sha asked curiously.
“To print advertisements and rent a storefront. Since Miss Xiaoyue has made Fish Head Village popular, we’d be wasting this momentum if we didn’t promote ourselves!”
Xu Shiyun thought of something else, “Oh, and contact the campus forum admin. Pay to pin our travel company’s post to the top.”
She turned to Jiang Xue, “Have you settled the prices with Fish Head Village?”
“Yes, we have. Three-day tour for 688; if you don’t count the King of Ghosts Cave ticket, it’s 388. We get thirty percent commission on Ghost Cave tickets; for groups under thirty, we pay 218 per ticket, for groups over thirty, 198. The extra hundred covers transportation, and we’ll arrange our own vehicles,” Jiang Xue replied.
“The profit isn’t very high,” Xu Shiyun murmured.
Jiang Xue blinked, “Seventy yuan per person—how is that not a good profit?”
Xu Shiyun smiled, “I meant Fish Head Village. The profit isn’t great. Even if it’s run well, you make maybe a hundred yuan per person, about the same as our group tours.”
She paused, then continued, “The pricing is reasonable. Call them later and ask if they can offer a ‘two days, one night’ package—leave today, return tomorrow.”
Jiang Xue hesitated, frowning, “Wouldn’t that be too rushed?”
Basically, it meant going today and coming back tomorrow; all the time would be spent on the road.
“For us college students, time is precious. One day and one night is fine. Fish Head Village isn’t very big; if we make the most of our time, it’s enough. As for pricing: three days, two nights, 388; two days, one night, 288; plus fifty yuan per person for transportation.”
As she walked outside, Xu Shiyun muttered, “The villagers over there are struggling too, so we can let them earn a bit more.”
Jiang Xue reached out to the campus forum admin, explained her entrepreneurial idea, sponsored the forum with five thousand yuan, and made ‘326 Travel Agency’ a campus forum sponsor, successfully getting their advertisement pinned.
‘326’ was the name of their dorm.
Jiang Xue contacted Tang Long for two main things. First, pricing: three days, two nights, 388; two days, one night, 258; King of Ghosts Cave tickets calculated separately. Transportation not included!
Second, Fish Head Village needed to be ready to receive tour groups at any time, since Miss Xiaoyue had shot to the top of the trending list and was viral everywhere. They had already started building the travel agency on campus and could organize tours at any moment.
After hanging up and returning to the dorm, Zhang Xinxin and Yang Sha looked at Jiang Xue with anticipation.
“What’s up?” Jiang Xue asked.
“Six groups of five hundred… all full.”
“This Friday’s group already has over three hundred reservations. Tomorrow’s ‘two days, one night’ tour has forty-seven signed up!”
Du Fangfang chimed in, “It’s forty-nine now, two more just joined!”
Jiang Xue: “…”
