An hour ahead of schedule, a small group had already arrived at the entrance to the engagement banquet. The event was set upon a sprawling lawn, far from the city center. After donning the Sealing Artifact 090 for his own protection, Li Jingbeast stepped out of the car.

Xu Congcong and Black Dragon watched him with anxious eyes, keeping a close watch on the messages on their phones. They would only be able to help once the signal was confirmed, but they also needed to make sure that Li Jingbeast survived this interval—if he were killed, all their efforts would be for naught.

Facing his first battle against an opponent clearly stronger than himself, Li Jingbeast exhaled a heavy breath and said, “Sister Congcong, if I die, please make sure to give my love letter to Chong Li.”

Xu Congcong admired his mindset but didn’t indulge him. “I can’t help you with that. If you want her to have it, do it yourself. If you’re so eager to play the hero, you should be alive to hand it to her yourself, not have me play messenger. You emotional coward!”

Li Jingbeast didn’t take offense. Adjusting his suit, he replied, “Coward or not, it’s better than being a turtle hiding in its shell. Honestly, I never imagined a second-generation rich kid like me would have such guts.”

After this brief exchange, Li Jingbeast took the lead and walked ahead.

Meanwhile, the Gu Master, dressed as the master of ceremonies and holding both a microphone and his lines, was preparing for the engagement—even though there wasn’t a single guest.

Ye Qingfeng wore a white suit, his face radiant with a smile. By contrast, the bride, Ning Rou, was tied to a chair. Even for her own engagement, she hadn’t bothered to dress for the occasion, as though the entire affair had nothing to do with her.

Ye Qingfeng leaned close to Ning Rou and whispered, “By the way, it was late yesterday, so I didn’t want to disturb your sleep, but in the afternoon your little boyfriend, Jiang Chen, was dealt with by me. Want to see a picture?”

Ning Rou looked at him with disdain. “You? Kill him? Even if you brought a hundred men, you wouldn’t be enough for him.”

Ye Qingfeng stood up. “Believe what you want. I’ll show you the photos once all your friends are dead. Maybe you can have a nice group shot together.”

Ning Rou simply gazed at him silently. She refused to believe Jiang Chen was dead. In her heart, Jiang Chen was someone who never failed at anything he set out to do. The claim of his death didn’t convince her in the slightest, yet worry gnawed at her, making it impossible to remain calm.

From afar, a dark figure approached—Li Jingbeast, a cigarette clenched between his teeth, using it for courage rather than habit.

“Little Beast? What are you doing here? Leave now! This isn’t where you should be. Go find your brother!” Ning Rou shouted anxiously.

Li Jingbeast grinned. “Sister-in-law, I’m here to save you. Don’t be afraid.”

The Gu Master eyed Li Jingbeast, sensing almost no spiritual energy from him, and muttered, “Something’s not right. Is this kid really a practitioner?”

Ye Qingfeng, whose strength was built upon pills refined from human lives, naturally couldn’t discern his opponent’s true power. Still, he was certain that no one his age could surpass him.

“You’re Li Jingbeast, right? Did you come alone?” Ye Qingfeng glanced around, spotting only two people at a distance behind Li Jingbeast—surely just drivers or servants.

“To deal with you, I’m more than enough,” Li Jingbeast replied, his aura undiminished as he locked eyes with Ye Qingfeng.

“If you’re the only one, then all the preparations for this engagement will have been for nothing,” Ye Qingfeng said.

“Not at all. This can double as your funeral,” Li Jingbeast shot back.

The Gu Master sidled up and whispered, “This is suspicious. For him to come alone, he must have a trump card.”

But Ye Qingfeng had no time for caution; the trap had to be played out to the end.

“So, do you want to die outright or put up a little struggle?” Ye Qingfeng flexed his hands, his tone mocking.

Li Jingbeast sighed. “How about this? Let’s play a game. If you lose, you let her go. If I lose, I’ll kill myself. How does that sound?”

Ye Qingfeng, intrigued, asked, “What kind of contest?”

Li Jingbeast scratched his head. “It’s simple. If you can kill me in three moves, you win. If I survive three moves, you release her.”

Ye Qingfeng pondered for a moment. “I accept. But since you’re a practitioner, you should know about the Vajra Realm. If I face you with my Vajra strength, isn’t that unfair?”

Li Jingbeast felt numb. Vajra Realm? There were two major levels between them—fairness wasn’t even a consideration.

“You use your Vajra strength, and I’ll meet you with my Breathing Realm. Life or death will be decided by strength alone,” Li Jingbeast declared.

To face Vajra with Breathing Realm? “Fool.”

As soon as the word left his lips, Ye Qingfeng’s fist shot out, almost instantaneously, tearing up the grass within a hundred meters.

The punch landed squarely on Li Jingbeast’s chest. He took a step back and said, “If that’s all you’ve got, you’d best get yourself to prison.”

Ye Qingfeng withdrew, astonished, shooting a questioning look at the Gu Master.

The Gu Master noticed something on Li Jingbeast and whispered in Ye Qingfeng’s ear, “Try hitting his head.”

With his extraordinary hearing, Li Jingbeast felt a chill run down his spine. His survival had been thanks entirely to the Sealing Artifact—without it, he’d have ended up like the shredded turf.

“Vajra strength is nothing special. Again!” Li Jingbeast taunted, all the while plotting how to deliver a killing blow.

Before setting out, he’d asked Fang Longcheng how to kill someone at the True Qi level. Fang’s advice: only special weapons or sustained heavy fire could break through. In the end, Li Jingbeast had borrowed a short sword capable of slaying someone at that level.

Now, the sword was hidden in his sleeve, waiting for the right moment.

Ye Qingfeng attacked again, this time aiming directly for Li Jingbeast’s head. He was sure that if this blow landed, Li Jingbeast’s head would burst like an overripe watermelon.

Li Jingbeast knew he stood no chance toe-to-toe with a Vajra expert. So he drew the short sword, raising it in the path of Ye Qingfeng’s strike.

But what use was a sword against a body tempered by the Vajra Realm?

Clang—

The sword shattered to pieces. Ye Qingfeng laughed. “You broke the rules—now die!”

Li Jingbeast closed his eyes, body seizing with loss of control. In the next instant, a terrible cry resounded.

“You bastard! You dare bully my wife and my brothers?”
