Jian Tang had not yet recovered from the shock of being suddenly abducted; she struggled to sit up.
The nurse quickly pressed her down. "Your wounds haven't been fully treated yet. You mustn’t move around."
Chen Bozhou, full of concern, soothed Jian Tang’s nerves. "It’s alright now, Tang Tang. You’re safe. I’m here with you. No one can hurt you."
Jian Tang slowly regained her composure. "I... how did I get to the hospital?"
She remembered the pair of eyes she saw before losing consciousness…
They looked very much like someone she had known…
Chen Bozhou explained, "It was your neighbor from the fourth floor. She remembered you and saw you being dragged by the tenant, so she rescued you and brought you here."
The neighbor from the fourth floor?
Jian Tang distinctly recalled that the person who saved her seemed to be... Shen Suinian.
Was it a hallucination?
But would Shen Suinian really be kind enough to save her?
No, definitely not.
As they spoke, the nurse cut open Jian Tang’s clothes to prepare to dress her wounds.
Jian Tang covered her chest and glanced at Chen Bozhou standing nearby.
Chen Bozhou met her clear, bright gaze, his ears flushing slightly. "I... I won’t look."
With that, he turned his face away.
The nurse, who had recognized them earlier and had seen their youthful love story many times, smiled knowingly as she witnessed their awkward interactions.
"Her clothes are ruined. How about... the boyfriend goes to buy her a skirt? Something made of cotton, breathable, so it won’t irritate the wound."
Upon hearing this, Chen Bozhou nodded eagerly. "Alright, I’ll go right now."
His nervousness and affection were intense and unabashed. The nurse whispered to Jian Tang, "I really envy the love you two share."
Jian Tang’s lowered eyelashes quivered slightly; her heart felt a bitter ache, but she said nothing.
The wound treatment was painful.
Sweat dampened Jian Tang’s forehead, but she didn’t utter a sound.
The nurse hooked up an IV drip and handed her a tissue. "If you need anything, press the nurse call button."
"Okay." Jian Tang leaned back on the hospital bed, staring blankly at the drops falling slowly into the tube.
She didn’t know how long she had been lost in thought when footsteps approached. She blinked lightly. "Nurse, I want to use the restroom."
The IV had been in for a long time, making her belly feel bloated and uncomfortable.
The footsteps paused beside the bed—then silence.
Puzzled, Jian Tang turned her head and met a pair of deep, shadowed eyes. It was him!

How did Shen Suinian appear at the hospital?
Unconsciously, Jian Tang studied his eyes, noticing the absence of the two parts violent crimson and one part... restrained worry she had seen before she passed out.
Shen Suinian had personally arranged for Shen Chunmei, the stepmother, to move in and had destroyed what was left of her father. How could he possibly care about her?
So, was he really just a hallucination appearing in her moment of pain?
The tall, slender man stood silently by the bedside. "...Let me press the call button for you."
Jian Tang: "...Okay."
The hospital had just received a batch of emergency car accident patients—twenty-three in total, over ten severely injured. All available medical staff were thrown into the urgent chaos.
Upon hearing Jian Tang’s request, the nurse apologized hurriedly, "Sorry, ma’am. If possible, please wait a moment or seek help from nearby ladies..."
Jian Tang hesitated, then said, "Alright."
Shen Suinian stood nearby, listening to the entire exchange. He looked at the little girl with her head bowed, noticing the swirl of hair on her round scalp. Resting one hand on the IV stand, he reached out, "I’ll support you."
Jian Tang paused. "I’ll wait for the nurse..."
She instinctively avoided him.
Shen Suinian’s eyes darkened slightly, but he did not withdraw his hand.
He carried a silent sense of pressure, a hidden yet powerful aura. Jian Tang bit her lip and eventually placed her hand on his wrist.
The restroom was at the end of the corridor. Shen Suinian couldn’t enter the ladies’ room, so he pushed open the nearby family restroom door.
Jian Tang watched his movements, her eyelids twitching twice as she looked up at him with a pale, delicate face.
Her gaze resembled someone staring at a lunatic.
Shen Suinian: "..."
He hung the IV bag on the stand inside, then turned his back and said, "I’ll be outside. Call my name if you need anything."
Jian Tang: "Okay."
Shen Suinian left and closed the door behind him.
Jian Tang, using one hand, slowly undid her jeans, expending considerable effort before finishing.
After pressing the flush, she hesitated, then carefully tiptoed and gently removed the IV bag herself.
She didn’t want to trouble Shen Suinian any further or have any more entanglements with him.
But—
When she reached the door holding the IV bag with both hands occupied, she still had to call him to open it.
"Shen... uncle, could you open the door for me?"
As soon as she spoke, the door was pushed open.
Shen Suinian looked at her holding the IV bag, his eyes narrowing slightly. The tubing above her needle already showed faint signs of blood backflow.

He raised the IV bag high, his expression darkened. "Don’t you know how to call for help?"
Used to always being in charge, Shen Suinian carried an inherent authority. Jian Tang was too intimidated to reply.
The fear in her eyes made Shen Suinian frown involuntarily.
Realizing he had frightened her, he raised his hand to touch her long hair to show he meant no harm, but before he could, Jian Tang shrank back in terror. "…Don’t hit me."
Her body still ached.
Shen Suinian’s raised hand froze mid-air. He spoke hoarsely, "...I’m not."
Jian Tang still flinched from the sudden abduction that night, lowering her head silently.
Shen Suinian escorted her back to the ward, walking side by side.
At the ward door, Jian Tang saw Chen Bozhou approaching, panting and carrying a shopping bag.
Seeing Shen Suinian holding Jian Tang’s IV, Chen Bozhou naturally took it from him. "Uncle Shen, what are you doing here?"
Usually, Chen Bozhou would address Shen Suinian as "Mr. Shen."
But now, speaking alongside Jian Tang, he instinctively asserted his claim as a male.
Even though to everyone, the cold, heartless heir of Harbor City, Shen Suinian, would never have any romantic involvement with Jian Tang.
But for years, Chen Bozhou had always disliked any male mosquitoes buzzing around Jian Tang.
Shen Suinian replied lightly, "Visiting a friend."
Chen Bozhou nodded and carefully helped Jian Tang back onto the bed. Tenderly, he pressed her other hand against his cheek, an unhidden display of affection, almost overwhelming.
Shen Suinian watched Jian Tang lower her eyes, shy as ever, and silently clenched his knuckles before leaving.
Jian Tang glanced unconsciously at Shen Suinian’s departing figure.
Chen Bozhou squeezed Jian Tang’s small hand. "Your eyes should only see me as the only man. Why are you looking at him? He’s nearly thirty. Am I not younger and more handsome?"
His jealousy was about to burst.
Jian Tang was exhausted from all the fuss. She replied half-heartedly, "He’s an elder; don’t be ridiculous."
Hearing her slightly impatient tone, Chen Bozhou was stunned. "Tang Tang, do you... not love me anymore?"
Jian Tang looked at him, like a big puppy afraid of being abandoned. "I will only stop loving you if you betray our relationship."
That was the promise she made the day she agreed to be with him.
"Then you must love me for a lifetime." Chen Bozhou laughed heartily.
