Chapter 10: Will You Keep This Child?
His reaction was somewhat exaggerated, and for a moment, all eyes at the dining table turned to him.
Feiyu Shen’s expression cracked briefly, filled with the grievances of a young girl. “Bozhou, why are you refusing me? Sister already agreed.”
Shunmei Shen glanced at Jiang Tang, who remained expressionless, then smiled softly. “Yes, Bozhou, I suppose Tang Tang just wants her happiest day to be accompanied by her sister.”
Suishan Jian sat upright, watching Chen Bozhou’s reaction.
Chen Bozhou only looked at Jiang Tang. “Is this what you want, Tang Tang?”
Jiang Tang took a small sip of her milk, lowering her gaze. “No need to trouble yourself over such a trivial matter.”
Knowing her aversion to hassle, Chen Bozhou said no more but cast a warning glance at Feiyu Shen.
Their physical relationship was consensual, ending the day he married Jiang Tang.
He would not neglect Feiyu materially, but that would be the extent of it.
No one and nothing was more important to him than Jiang Tang.
“Sis, I really envy you. Every word you say is like an imperial edict to Bozhou. You’re... truly lucky,” Feiyu Shen said with a smile.
“If only my boyfriend loved me like that,” she added, speaking to Jiang Tang but subtly directing her gaze at Chen Bozhou.
Suishan Jian asked, “Feiyu, are you dating? Whose child is this?”
Feiyu Shen smiled sweetly. “It’s been a while, but with Bozhou and sister’s wedding being the family’s focus lately, I haven’t had a chance to mention it.”
Suishan Jian nodded. “You’re sensible. After your sister’s matters settle, bring your partner over sometime.”
Feiyu Shen blushed. “Okay.”
Chen Bozhou said nothing, patiently watching Jiang Tang and urging her to eat more. “You’ve been looking thin lately. Is your appetite off?”
Jiang Tang answered softly, “Yes.”
Chen Bozhou squeezed her pale fingers. “After we marry, I’ll hire several chefs to prepare varied meals for you. We must get your appetite back. You can’t stay this thin.”
He intended to have a child with her.
A child bearing their shared bloodline, binding their lives forever.
Jiang Tang put down her chopsticks. Chen Bozhou took a tissue to wipe her mouth. “Rest a bit or go straight to the wedding venue?”
Where Jiang Tang was, his eyes never left her; to others at the table, he was indifferent.
Under the table, Feiyu Shen clenched her hand, unwilling, rubbing Chen Bozhou’s calf with her foot.
Chen Bozhou moved away, finally glancing at her.
Feiyu Shen raised her brows. “Bozhou, are you going to check the wedding venue with sister today? I want to go too, maybe... learn something for my own future wedding.”
Shunmei Shen looked at Suishan Jian, covering for her daughter’s somewhat frivolous words. “This child is just jealous seeing her sister find happiness and is eager to marry.”
Suishan Jian smiled.
Chen Bozhou said nothing, only looking to Jiang Tang for her answer.
Jiang Tang met Feiyu Shen’s provocation with a calm, “Suit yourself.”
Chen Bozhou drove both of them there.
Jiang Tang sat in the front passenger seat; Feiyu Shen was in the back, texting: [Sis, want to look for the black lace I left in the front seat the day before yesterday? I only wore it once and it got dirty. Such a pity.]
Jiang Tang glanced at the glowing phone but didn’t open the message, instead casting a look at Feiyu Shen’s defiant eyes through the rearview mirror.
At the wedding venue, the manager personally greeted them.
Feiyu Shen’s outfit was nearly identical to Jiang Tang’s. The manager hesitated, then seeing Feiyu subtly hook her pinky around Chen Bozhou’s palm, mistook her for the bride-to-be.
“Mr. Chen, this way, Miss Jian…”
The manager enthusiastically introduced the venue’s arrangements and decorations. Jiang Tang noticed early on that he seemed mistaken about the bride but said nothing.
Feiyu Shen feigned innocence.
When the manager praised the couple’s match, Chen Bozhou’s face darkened. He wrapped his long arm around Jiang Tang’s waist. “Are you blind? You don’t even know who the bride is, yet you call yourself the manager?”
The manager was stunned, though he had clearly seen…
But even if emboldened, he dared not speak of what he saw and had to swallow the humiliation, apologizing repeatedly.
“Sorry, Mr. Chen, sorry, Mr. Chen…”
Chen Bozhou snapped, “Don’t even know who to apologize to? I think you’re just blind. Replace him!”
This grand wedding, costing tens of millions, meant that when Chen Bozhou said replace him, a new manager took over within ten minutes.
The new manager was far more cautious and attentive, vigilant not to slack off.
Jiang Tang watched his fuss without comment.
Feiyu Shen clenched her fists in frustration. Seeing Chen Bozhou and Jiang Tang rehearse exchanging rings, she suddenly began to gag.
With a resentful glance at Chen Bozhou, who had stopped, Feiyu Shen hurried to the restroom.
Chen Bozhou’s eyes flickered as he watched her cover her mouth and rush away.
Five minutes later.
Jiang Tang slipped the wedding ring onto Chen Bozhou’s finger. Halfway through the vows, Chen Bozhou’s phone kept buzzing with messages.
Already distracted before, he now made several errors.
Jiang Tang set down the vows. “Check your messages first. Don’t... let it hold up your important task.”
Chen Bozhou: “I... I’ll step out for a moment, be right back.”
Jiang Tang knew “right back” was unreliable. “Okay.”
Chen Bozhou took his phone and went to the restroom.
Hearing footsteps outside, Feiyu Shen’s lips curled as she dialed Jiang Tang’s number, placing the phone discreetly.
Just as Chen Bozhou reached the door, a pair of hands pulled him in. Feiyu Shen clung to him with a softness that belied all resistance. “Bozhou, I think I’m pregnant. What should I do?”
Chen Bozhou had always been careful with contraception, but exceptions existed. He lowered his eyes. “We’ll get a test done soon.”
Feiyu Shen’s voice was sweet. “Will you keep the child?”
Chen Bozhou answered without hesitation, “No.”
Feiyu Shen pounded lightly on his chest. “You’re so cruel... I’ve even gotten a stomach ache eating your food, and you don’t care at all.”
Chen Bozhou came to his senses, resting his hand on her waist. “You’re shameless.”
On the wedding stage, Jiang Tang held her phone, listening to their flirtatious bickering. She slowly descended the steps, walking toward the restroom.
Stopping in front of the door, she calmly asked, “Feiyu, why are you calling me from so close? Is there something you need?”
Chen Bozhou’s body stiffened abruptly as he grasped Feiyu Shen’s neck.
Her attempt to drag matters before Jiang Tang had crossed a forbidden line.
