Chapter Nine: Establishing the Sect

Profitable beyond measure! Profitable beyond measure!
Liao Chen never expected that after taming the divine beast Vermilion Bird Demon Emperor, the dog system would reward him so generously. It seemed that the system did not always require the host to slay enemies to receive rewards.

Next, Liao Chen instructed the Vermilion Bird to leave the Broken Blade. The Vermilion Bird transformed into a middle-aged man and respectfully stood aside. Although he no longer had a physical body, his Nascent Soul had not suffered much damage, so rebuilding his body was merely a matter of time.

Liao Chen took out an imperial pill and said, “Consider this imperial pill a gift for you. Take it and restore your body.”

“Thank you, Master!” The Vermilion Bird was deeply moved. This master was far too kind, casually giving him a supreme imperial pill. Normally, to rebuild the body, one would use a reconstruction pill, which was far inferior to an imperial pill.

He had originally planned to conserve his strength and rebuild his body gradually. But seeing Liao Chen’s intense gaze, he awkwardly smiled and swallowed the pill.

Soon, aided by the imperial pill, the Vermilion Bird successfully restored his body. At the same time, his previous injuries completely healed, and there were faint signs of a breakthrough in his cultivation.

“By the way, do you have a name?” Liao Chen suddenly asked.

The Vermilion Bird replied, “Master, when I once traveled the mortal realm, I gave myself the name Zhu Youwei.”

Liao Chen shook his head. “With your millions of years of life, you’re hardly worthy of being called Zhu Youwei. From now on, you shall be called Zhu Wuneng, and I will call you Old Zhu.”

“Yes, Master!” Zhu Wuneng smiled bitterly. He had no intention to resist, after all, his soul imprint was already in Liao Chen’s hands. Whatever name the master chose was final.

Suddenly, Liao Chen remembered that the dog system had also gifted him a sect shrine. He summoned the system and asked, “System, what is the purpose of the sect shrine you gave me? Are you asking me to establish a sect?”

System: “Correct! Now that the host has followers at the Great Emperor level, it’s only fitting to have a sect. The system hopes the host will establish a sect as soon as possible. A generous gift awaits upon the sect’s founding.”

Liao Chen laughed heartily. “The atmosphere is already set. How could I, the host, fail you, my ruthless system? Then let’s open the sect!”

System: “Ding! Congratulations, host, on opening the sect shrine. Please name the sect within one hour, or the shrine will initiate self-destruction!”

“Damn it, system, you’re setting me up!”

Liao Chen couldn’t help but curse out loud. He had thought the system was benevolent, gifting him a sect shrine. Yet it turned out to be a trap. If the shrine self-destructed, he would surely perish.

He racked his brains and came up with various sect names: “Taiji Sect, Starry Sect, Limitless Sect, Azure Profundity Sect, Maoshan Sect, Morning Light Sect...”

System reminded: “Host, you only have one chance to name the sect. Changing the name later requires paying one trillion experience points.”

What? Liao Chen was stunned. One trillion experience points seemed a lot—it would take slaying countless Great Emperor experts to accumulate that. Realizing this, he calmed down to think carefully. After filtering through all the names he could think of, he found that Morning Light Sect best suited his temperament. Names like Taiji Sect or Starry Sect were too common. Liao Chen didn’t want to be so ostentatious. So he took the character “Chen” from his own name and added “Light” to represent hope.

System: “Ding! Congratulations, host, on successfully naming the sect. You are rewarded with an invincible sect protection array, a Hall of the Great Way, a sect evaluation ladder, a sect trial tower, a Hall of Transmission, a Weapons Hall, a medicinal herb field, and a Great Emperor spiritual vein.”

With the sect’s name confirmed, Xiao Longzi and Zhu Wuneng noticed their surroundings change. A magnificent sect palace appeared before them.

There were dozens of supreme Enlightenment Tea trees and Bodhi trees casually planted within the sect. The spiritual power inside was hundreds of times stronger than outside. Cultivating within the sect was over a thousand times more effective than outside. Those with low cultivation could quickly break through a minor realm, and even a major realm breakthrough was no great feat.

In this cultivation world, a single supreme Enlightenment Tea tree was rare and precious, let alone so many here. Cultivating under these trees accelerated progress exponentially. Tasting the tea leaves made breakthroughs as easy as savoring food and drink.

The two noticed the three characters above the sect entrance and felt somewhat puzzled. The name Morning Light Sect wasn’t very imposing. Names like Overlord Sect or Invincible Gate would sound more fitting for such a powerful sect.

They knew that among the famed sects on the Qianyuan Continent, very few boasted two Great Emperor-level experts. So Zhu Wuneng remarked, “Master, our sect’s name seems a bit lacking in grandeur. Other sects with two Great Emperor elites would have long changed their names to something more intimidating.”

Liao Chen chuckled. “Our sect’s name might not be grand, but from now on, you must spread its reputation. Everyone shall know: the Morning Light Sect is not to be insulted—any insult will be met with death!”

“Now, from today, we will consolidate all the demon cultivators in the Ten Thousand Demons Mountain Range. Those who submit become outer disciples. Those at the Great Emperor level become elders within the sect. Those at the Great Saint level become protectors. Those at the Saint level become outer elders. Those at the Supreme Emperor level become outer protectors. Xiao Longzi will manage internal affairs, and Old Zhu will handle external matters.”

“Yes, Master!” Xiao Longzi and Zhu Wuneng accepted the orders.

They understood that Liao Chen had his reasons. Xiao Longzi managing internal affairs had obvious benefits—he could freely access various cultivation resources. Zhu Wuneng managing external matters had fewer perks. He knew this meant Liao Chen had not yet fully trusted him, as he had only recently started following him.

With the establishment of Morning Light Sect, the Supreme Emperor-level great demons of the Ten Thousand Demons Mountain Range hurried over to make their acquaintance. Whether they could become elders or protectors was not their expectation.

Previously, there were five Great Saint-level Demon Emperors in the mountain range; now only four remained. They first approached Zhu Wuneng, expressing their willingness to join Morning Light Sect.

Zhu Wuneng trusted these old subordinates, having watched them grow. He loudly declared, “You were all my old subordinates before, so I can promise you the position of outer elder in Morning Light Sect. As for becoming sect protectors, you must contribute sufficiently and pass the evaluation.”

“Thank you, Elder Zhu!” the four Demon Emperors expressed their gratitude.

Zhu Wuneng nodded and took out four transformation pills. “This is a gift for your first joining of the sect. Take it!”

The four Demon Emperors accepted the pills and were thrilled. Although they were Great Saint-level Demon Emperors, they could not maintain human form for long. With these transformation pills, they would no longer need to use magic to sustain their human shape.

Soon, the four Demon Emperors successfully transformed. Other Demon Kings also joined Morning Light Sect smoothly and received a transformation pill. Within just one day, more than a thousand demons at Supreme Emperor level or above had successfully joined Morning Light Sect.

Those demons below Supreme Emperor level could not immediately join the sect but could obtain transformation pills through gathering spiritual herbs and minerals.

Since establishing Morning Light Sect, Liao Chen was never short of transformation pills. The system had given him ten tons of them, far more than he could use. They were excellent for exchanging for spiritual herbs or minerals.

He also had countless Foundation Establishment pills, which he planned to have Old Zhu exchange for spiritual herbs and minerals as well.
