Chapter 20
As the first victim streamer of this infuriating little game, Baldy made no secret of his desire to personally design a map to trap other streamers after watching the broadcast. During the wait for the update, Baldy gritted his teeth and kept clearing the game, each time he fell into a trap and died, he silently chanted to himself: Don’t get angry, stay calm—once you clear it, it’ll be your turn to trap them!
The more times you die now, the better you’ll understand the levels, and the more times they’ll be trapped in the future!
Fueled by this obsession, Baldy finally managed, two days before the update, to clear the game amidst the cheers and encouragement of his fans. Through his repeated deaths, he had gained a thorough understanding of the various mechanisms.
Tremble! Now it’s my turn to trap you all!
“I’ll definitely trap them to death this time!” Baldy declared fiercely in his stream, vowing to create a map even more devious than “Dad-Trapping Adventure.”
“They” referred to his streamer friends in the same region, who had mocked Baldy endlessly after his meltdown video from the game went viral.
Now, the tables had finally turned, and it was Baldy’s chance for revenge.
His fans, moved to tears, filled the chat with messages of inspiration.
“It’s getting fired up! Let’s go, following Baldy!”
“Three meals in nine days?”
“Kick out that fake fan above!”
When he wasn’t playing, Baldy would go to the official website and watch the map-making tutorial posted early by Jiang Qiubai, over and over, planning what to put into his own map.
Even though he hadn’t used the editor yet, he already knew by heart where to put what, what could overlap with what, and so on.
Thanks to his fast internet, Baldy quickly downloaded the editor, registered an account, and entered the editing interface smoothly.
“Alright, let’s begin.” Baldy let out a sinister laugh and chose the scene.
“We’ll use the green background—after all, green is good for your eyes. Consider it a small blessing for my friends,” he said with a smile, dragging out several fruit trees.
“A plain road is too boring. Let’s add some greenery.”
A row of fruit trees appeared along the path.
“Fruit is nutritious, I should add more.” He dragged out apples and stuffed them among the trees.
Apple after apple, packed closely together. Next was selecting whether they’d explode and the explosion trajectory.
Baldy had already drafted this in his mind and set about his task without hesitation: “Explode! Make them all explode! Blow them up!”
He decided to vent all his pent-up frustration here!
“This one explodes upward; this one to the left; this one downwards—no, that’s too boring, make it spin around and explode forward!”
Over twenty apples, each with a unique trajectory, not a single one repeated.
The fans watching the stream were stunned.
“The devil is right among us?!”
“Can any expert tell us if Baldy’s bomb trajectories cover the entire map?”
“Looks like... only the top is passable.”
“Even a bird passing by would be blown up before it could flap its wings.”
Shocked, they suddenly remembered something.
“Wait... did Baldy forget about that thing?”
“He almost certainly forgot. He’s just cut off his own escape route.”
“Baldy! Wake up! You have to clear your own map before uploading it!”
“Hurry! Knock me out until Baldy realizes this! I can’t wait to see his expression!”
“Recording is ready! The new video will rely on Baldy!”
Some kind-hearted viewers tried to warn Baldy in the chat, not wanting to see him face such embarrassment.
But Baldy was immersed in his world, not bothering to read the chat, and the reminder went unnoticed.
“Just trees won’t do, the path is far too simple.” The cruelest traps that once tormented Baldy now seemed trivial, like free points.
“No, this path can’t be so flat.” He rummaged through a pile of obstacles and finally chose a classic sleight-of-hand: a road that looked solid from afar, but was hollow inside.
With a swipe, he turned the area into nothing but a few thin bricks to jump across.
“Why so much path?” Baldy reasoned, “You can jump this far, just jump a few more times and you’re through.”
Still not satisfied, Baldy muttered, “No, if you can just jump across, it’s too easy.”
“What else should I add...” He pondered, stacking several rows of wooden sticks in the middle of the map. “Hanging out below is boring, let them go up in the air.”
Next, he placed hidden spikes on each stick, one spike, one gap.
“This is simple, just hop across and you’re good.” Baldy saw no difficulty in his own design, and even found it too easy.
“No, still too easy,” he repeated. “I need to add some little monsters.”
He searched carefully until his eyes lit up: “This is it!”
He dragged out the ninja monster—one that jumps and shoots darts—and put one on every wooden stick.
“They can be stomped to death, not hard at all, really simple,” Baldy announced confidently.
“I no longer recognize the word ‘simple.’”
“I was going to spam the chat and remind Baldy, but now, ha, serves him right.”
“Dog: I may not be human, but Baldy’s a real dog.”
“Brothers, let’s all stay quiet later and see how Baldy clears this!”
“If Baldy can clear this, I'll eat shit upside down on the spot!”
“I’ll add five pounds! That’s how bold I am!”
“My dinner suddenly lost its flavor.”
“The ground is set, let’s see, what else... Right!” Baldy slapped his forehead. “I haven’t set up the sky! If they go up, wouldn’t they just clear the level? That’s way too easy.”
What could he put in the sky?
Baldy casually dragged out a few untouchable white clouds: “Just a few clouds, but still too simple.”
For the moment, he couldn’t think of anything better, so he regretfully moved on to the finish line.
He chose a castle for the finish—he’d been tricked by the castle in the first level so many times that the memory still stung.
Now it was his turn, so it had to be special.
Rubbing his hands, Baldy moved the castle forward, added a track, and replaced all the bricks underneath with invisible, non-standable ones.
This way, as soon as a player reached the castle, it would automatically slide back to its original position and the player would fall straight down.
What a clever little devil I am.
Baldy looked proudly at his masterpiece.
At this point, the screen was packed tight—there was barely any room for anything else.
“That’s enough for now,” Baldy said, reluctantly putting down the mouse. “See, I’m not a devil at all—just a few little things, really, I’m letting them off easy.”
Fans who’d watched the whole process: ??? Is that even human talk?
Baldy didn’t care what his fans thought. As soon as he finished the map, without pausing for breath, he sent an invitation to his closest friend—the one who’d mocked him the most.
Catch them off guard!
Baldy didn’t hide his intentions; everyone knew he was out for revenge.
Though his friends all claimed they weren’t afraid, they were secretly keeping an eye on him.
If he didn’t challenge them now, they’d probably just watch his stream replay after their own streams ended.
Better to kill this possibility in the cradle.
Baldy’s fans, always eager for chaos, rushed to the friend’s stream to stir things up.
After all, in the end, Baldy would be the one trapped.
His fans thought, not a hint of sympathy.
A few dozen seconds later, the friend accepted the voice call.
“Baldy, you sure moved fast,” the friend said, his bravado from earlier gone, eyes pleading for mercy.
Taunting is fun, but payback is hell!
He didn’t want to be the first victim, like Baldy once was!
Baldy pretended not to notice, his tone warm and lively: “Of course! I couldn’t wait to share with you all. What, you scared?”
“Scared? Please, me? Scared?” To be friends with Baldy, you needed a similar temperament—and he couldn’t resist a challenge.
“Good, then. Here, I made this especially for you. With your skills, you’ll clear it in ten minutes, right?” Baldy grinned maliciously.
His friend gritted his teeth: “Bring it on! I don’t believe you can make anything that bad!”
Baldy quickly hit the confirm button, worried his friend would back out: “Come, let me show you—huh? Wait, I have to clear it myself first?!”
A system prompt popped up in the center of the screen: You have created a new map. Please clear the map yourself before uploading.
Below was a button: [Begin Clear]
Crap! Baldy realized his mistake—he’d been so absorbed in laying traps, he’d completely forgotten this step.
The tables turned instantly. His friend, previously nervous, now relaxed and laughed: “Oh, you haven’t cleared it yet? Don’t tell me you can’t beat your own level?”
“…Don’t be ridiculous! I built this myself, how could I not clear it?” Baldy frantically replayed the traps in his mind and clicked the mouse with determination.
I’m fine! I can do this! I’ve already beaten the game!
