Volume 1, Chapter 25: The Destiny of a Lone Star of Heavenly Nemesis
Judging by the attitudes of these ladies and Princess Yizhang, they must be hiding something of great consequence.
Even the soldiers in Yuan Shu's army would likely never guess that Sun Ce had become a mere bodyguard. At this thought, a spark flickered in his eyes.
It was precisely because he had long been working for the Zhen family of Yunnan that, by now, withdrawing from their affairs had become impossible.
"I believe your proficiency in reading the qi is not yet refined, yet you are in such a hurry to show off. You cannot discern the rise or fall of the Dark Pavilion at all. Otherwise, you would have long since abandoned the old to embrace the new," Wang Wu remarked, offering a reasonable conjecture.
He knew that Cui Min was extremely sharp; once he learned of this matter, he would surely question the marriage, yet he dared not reveal even a hint of the truth.
"Qingchen, you’ve sneezed twice in a row. Someone must be thinking of you. Could it be Young Master Qin?" asked Tang Shiying, who was seated not far from Chu Qingchen.
These people were nothing but ignorant fools, devoid of any tactical skill or experience in business dealings. Relying solely on hot-headed impulse, they could never achieve anything, let alone pose a real threat.
The moment Bilo heard this, she realized that if Lin Qi had seen her arguing with Yan Qin earlier, he must have misunderstood the situation.
After rehearsing with Zhou Demin for two days, their performance had reached a level of seamless rapport. Zhou Demin was, in truth, an excellent crosstalk performer; even when Wang Cong went off-script, Zhou could always steer them back on track.
Before long, the scandal surrounding Xue Wanhe would blow up, forcing the Emperor to take swift action. The collapse of the Xue family would occur in the blink of an eye.
Xing Tianze watched her self-righteous display and felt it didn't seem staged, but everyone was capable of acting, and he couldn't rule out that Tao Mingxi was putting on a show as well. Too weary to engage, he simply walked around her.
Wang Yu did not return from outside until after seven in the evening. He was covered in filth; his trench coat was matted with dried mud, and even his short, cropped hair was caked with dirt. Seeing Chen Jingjing sitting on the sofa, he remained silent, offering only a brief glance before burying himself in his laboratory.
Chuanguang was Liu Meng’s former employer, an A-share listed company, and she still held shares in the firm to this day.
Xia Gui pondered for a moment and decided that asking for another Qi-Condensing Pill would be meaningless. His heart was set on that auspicious plot of land in the Qingmao Forest; practicing there for a single day was far more effective than any pill.
Ghost Marquis and Gu Li were quite cunning. They had not revealed their true identities, claiming only to be nobles from the Southern Wilds.

Clearly, Shen Wanhua and Song Mingbo were not confident in their ability to handle Wengela on their own and wanted to pull Zhao Lang into the fray.
He swept a probing gaze over Song Nian'an. This wasn't the first time such a situation had occurred; his Nian'an never liked taking medicine, avoiding it whenever possible, preferring to endure her discomfort rather than swallow the dose.
The air suddenly grew still. Gou Shun and Zhen Chun stared directly at each other, both hoping the other would be the one to yield.
As the onlookers whispered back and forth, Chen Dangui frowned in annoyance.
After the clear ring of a bell, the students scattered like birds and beasts, leaving their seats to stretch their weary hands.
Wen Xiao gave a soft laugh, suddenly reaching out to switch off the light, a sentence slipping from her lips.
He bypassed that area and cut through another corridor. Through the windows, he could see people—patients, twisted and deformed, who had long gone without normal human sustenance, surviving only by consuming those killed by some irresistible force.
As a mercenary, she kept weapons hidden all over her body; even in the calloused flesh of her palm, a razor blade was concealed.
She did not want to be reincarnated in such ignorance. She would return to watch those hateful people die, bit by bit.
"What are you doing?" Fang Jidong's voice brought her back to reality, and she dropped the shards in her hand.
I looked out into the distance. A bottomless canyon stretched before me, shrouded in mist, so wide and long that the other side was invisible, save for the faint silhouette of a mountain peak standing tall.
All the lightning bolts repelled each other, triggering a violent reaction. Zheng Kuanglei barely managed to withdraw, coughing up a mouthful of blood.
The conflict between Daxing and Anguo had been forged as far back as their grandfathers' generation. That it had not yet erupted was a miracle, but this war made it clear that neither side wished to maintain such superficial pretenses any longer.
Encountering Hao Mingyao on the way, Mingzhu initially had no intention of greeting her; after all, they had already spoken plainly enough face-to-face, and there was no need to keep up appearances. Yet, Hao Mingyao seemed determined to continue the tedious performance, and upon seeing her, she curled her lips and stepped forward.
Feng Yuebai was suddenly seized by a terrible premonition. He dared not think or look, yet the corner of his eye caught the two strands of white hair drifting across his chest.

However, her physical body, having been tempered by the lightning tribulation, had become even more resilient; ordinary demons truly could do her no harm.
As Six-Ears spoke, his tone softened. He nodded toward Subhuti and turned to leave.
Ye Bugui knew his father well; he was very open-minded about some things, yet stubborn to a fault about others.
"Ding! Congratulations on reaching level ten. You are the first player to reach level ten. Would you like to make your name public?" the system prompted.
The spectral shadows drifting in mid-air ceased their wailing and resentment, their gazes peaceful as they faded away.
Speaking in low tones, the two of them worked together to turn Feng Yuebai over, using a bed of vines to move him onto a pile of rushes nearby.
"This is the hundredth corpse. One hundred corpses, one hundred ways to die. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?" an old man shook his head and sighed.
"Of course, otherwise why would I be called the ultimate heartthrob?" Mu Chen smiled, full of confidence.
Lin Kuang offered no further explanation. After sharing a few drinks with Xu Shan and the others, he excused himself, rose to his feet, and stepped directly onto the stairs leading to the fifth floor.
"Remember to send that giant gorilla to my company, or the spider will do as well. I want to study the constitution of these monsters," Li Yang said.
There were many things the Demon-Cloud King could not explain in public. He had not expected Jiang Tian’s tongue to be so sharp, and for a moment, he wore a troubled expression, unsure of how to respond.
Even Yang Quan would not dare. Even if his strength were unrivaled in the world and he had the backing of over three hundred of the eight hundred generals, he would not dare, for the grudges among those eight hundred generals were far too complex to be reduced to a mere number.
At the time, the Qi general outside the city, eager to quickly seize the Yidu Arsenal, had specifically handpicked over five hundred of the most elite Xianbei warriors from his ranks to launch a charge against the arsenal's walls, supported by more than three thousand ordinary soldiers.
