The Ziwei Star is known as the "Master of Destiny." In modern terms, the seven stars of the Big Dipper are known as Dubhe, Merak, Phecda, Megrez, Alioth, Mizar, and Alkaid. In ancient times, they were called Greedy Wolf, Giant Gate, Preservation of Fortune, Literary Curve, Integrity, Martial Tune, and Army Breaker.

The mark of a Star Soul is a black patch scattered with twinkling stars, and at its center is a large, striking white character for "soul."
